At the age of fifteen I got told I would not be able to conceive to have a baby in my 20's. But when I found out I was pregnant on the 6th of December 2005, I was truly shocked, that I was pregnant. I was so happy that I was carrying the odds stacked up until the day I was bleeding huge blood clots at 7 weeks and getting told it was normal to pass blood and then it happened again and the third time it happened I went to see my GP, which in return told me, to go Straight to KEMH. I was getting very sharp pains in my stomach and I was getting very scared and thinking what is happening to me and my baby. The midwife decided to do an ultrasound and started getting worried that my baby had no Amniotic Fluid around it, they did try and stop the labour, but it was too late. My daughter was born at 25 weeks and 3 gestation. The Obstetrics told me that this gestation that the baby has 40-50 per cent survival rate. My daughter was born at 9.30pm that night weighing 715grams just a tube of butter her length just over a size of a ruler 33.5cm long. It was a long haul for us as she needed a lot of blood transfusions and was on and off the ventilator. We finally got her home and the 15 December 2006 she come down with a dangerous form of Pneumonia, her little lungs collapsed and she was put on once again the ventilator which the induce her into a coma. My daughter has struggled to survive threw the years she is now 3 years and 4 months old. My daughter still has problems with her lungs and has VSD still open, she is asthmatic. Man what we went through was so horrible and heart wrentching, even these days when I look back to what had happened, and now being pregnant once again it scared me as at 7 weeks I started to bleed a little, but that has past I am now 34 weeks, and on a lot of medication to help my pregnancy this time around. I hope this helps a lot of people. There is much more to this story, but I doubt it would fit. Thank you to KEMH, PMH for all their help my daughter and now with my second pregnancy.

Congratulations to your 3 year old daughter. Because she was born prematurely she had a difficult start to her life. She had a challenging time in your pregnancy very likely. It was challenging that she had to be born as early as 25 weeks pregnancy. Amazingly she survived and had some dangerous times with the pneumonia. I am delighted that she is still alive and has responded well to all the medical care she has been given.
Congratulations to you on your second pregnancy. You must have been terrified at 7 weeks pregnancy because early pregnancy bleeding is worrying. Now that you have reached 34 weeks pregnancy is it possible you will have your baby around the time of your due date. I have a friend whose baby was born at 34 weeks pregnancy. My two sons were born at 39 weeks pregnancy and my daughter was born 2 days overdue.
My toddler son was in a special care baby unit. He is disabled. He has spina bifida and hydrocephalus. He had two operations which saved his life. Now he is two and a half years old.
