Hmm..a hard question, just because there's not many movies which I called good this year compare to last year, but maybe because Oscar worthy movies usually release late in the year. I think I would place Ingluorius Basterds as my the best movie of the year. It's just so quirky, sometimes funny, but like all Tarantino movies, the main theme is dark and saddistic. Star trek was also a very good reboot, it's thrilling and exciting compare to other reboot or sequels like Transformers or Terminator which only great at special effects, but lame in terms of story. As for comedy or horror, I vote for Drag Me To Hell. It's scary and funny at the same time. Nobody beats Sam Raimi in this genre. Well, I haven't seen Paranormal Activity, so maybe my choice for horror will change once I see this much-buzzed movie.

i just noticed that you ask for 5 movies, I add 2 other favorites then, Up! since it's a really good animation movie, if I may say, the best of the year (though I still prefer last year's Wall-E). Michael Jackson's This Is It also a really awesome documentary of his final journey preparing his concert. You can feel his energy and how awesome the concert would be..

That is a very good question, lets see #1 is The Hangover, that movie was just so hillarious and one of the funniest movies that I have ever seen, #2 would be District 9, it was a very different movie and I really enjoyed it, #3 is Watchmen, it is such a rich, action packed, but still interesting and engaging movie, I really love it, #4 is The Ugly Truth, I really liked this movie, I thought it was cute, but still an adult comedy AND it was set here in Sacramento *woot woot*, and #5 is Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince because I just am a huge Harry Potter fan.
