what does it mean to dream with a spider?

I dreamed long time ago that a spider tried to attack me and that I was trying to get away from it. But it would jump at me. I think I actually ended up killing it.
Does this mean that people envy me or something? I think I am wrong though. I read in a book of dreams one time. That it meant that someone was going to propose marriage to me. And it actually did happen. But I still can't belive it.
Help me out please in trying to interpret what this means.

How big was the spider?
If it was a normal sized spider.. I would say that there is something trivial in your life that is irritating you. The killing it symbolized you're almost ready to start fresh.
If it was a huge spider, I would watch out for betrayals from friends. You may even lose the friendship.
Just my personal opinion. This is not looking at any book. I'm at work, books are at home. :) Good luck figuring it out. You will probably get lots of different responses.
