The truth of USA

What's the truth of USA? I mean what the real picture is, well, I can't spell. The only thing i know is that my ideas are gradually being overturned by the words from some native Americans themselves. Both of the two guys are my colleagues. The first is bit of old, and he shocked me to the core telling me that his dream is to die here in China, anywhere. Ok, here's what i summerized most of the conversations between us: Me:hey,Gary, the spring festival is upcoming, are you gonna go back to USA? Him: No, i will never go back to USA, I'm gonna die here Me: Why? you are the first person I meet to say that? Him:Well, there's no freedom, Why should I go back? Me: No freedom? American is full of demacrocy Him: Well you said demacrocy, but do you know the difference between freedom and demacrocy? Me: Aint' they the same? so what's the difference exactly Him: Go to loose change and word master. google it, then you'll know.................... Me:..........(speechless) Besides this him, there's another him bearing more or less the same nuisance towards America, As i was still lingering on that colleague's words, so i stoke up the topic with another native American. He's from Washinton DC, has lived in China for around 11 years. Here's our rush talk,ps: time for his class. Me:Hey patrict, do you love your country? Him:....(hesitance,lasting few seconds),yes, what's up? Me: well, you hesitated, the people in the movies and TV series would say"yes, I love USA " instantly, but you hesitated. Him: Well, since i lived here for nearly 11 years, so i was bit of confusing which country you meant, coz literally i m taking China as my country. Me:huh? so tell me something you don't like about USA Him:Well, there're many things that i don't like about American, like taxes, there're taxes everywhere. Me:But when were learning english, like the Bush's radio address speech, i remembered his words going like: I've met people like*** who got the tax relieve to achieve their own businesses... Him: That's what they are trying to do. Me:They have been trying for so long? Him: Every goverment is talking about reducing taxes, even the Obama Administration, but they never do it. Me:huh, so what else? Him:American people are narrow-minded, they always want to control people, we are not talking about controlling other countries, they like to control every person around. Me:.......... After the two conversations, I m not here to throw any judgements, but I'm bit of confused about all what i Learned about USA in the course of english-learning since Junior High.and then later my wish-wish picture about USA was once again torn by a Britain guy, my new co-worker. here's what we've been through: Me:Hey,David,Since back in your country you can have a much more, what can i say, exquisite life in England? what brought you up here? Him:Eh, how do I say, ive been here for more than a year, and i m with a chinese girl for all the way along,I think the life here is quite good. Me:How long is it after you step out of university? Him: 2 years ago, my major is criminalogy, if I graduate, I could get like 15000 pounds a year as a new grad, but here, let me see, i can get about 160000 RMB a year. your salary seems to be pretty high, but you've got to pay taxes every, high rent,so till the end you pretty much have nothing left. Me: so the life there is quite expenditious? huh Him:yea, like if i go to the my previous working school, here it only takes 2 yuan, but if in the same condition back in English,it may cost you 40 yuan, so here i save more.it's not that i can't get a job there, just not that higher job as here, i could get an ok job if in England. Me:So if a Chinese person goes there, is it very difficult to find a job?you know people are still very enthusiatic rushing to countries like England and USA, especially these two countries. Him: well, unless he's very talented, then it would be. Me:wat about USA Him:eh...i don't like Americans, they are very loud.... (I'm guessing the social structure or way of life is bit of same as there in USA, expendious) And recently, Obama's trip to China is a huge hit in all presses, TIMES as well.It issued one essay: Five things the USA can learn From China. one of the things is Chinese people's habit of savings. Saving helps relieve the future burden and reduce the risks. Well, i was thinking, if Chinese people all go along the way Americans do, consuming the future into present, what will China be like? will the land here flourish into skyrocketing mansions as USA does? will people's life goes to more luxious? Well, I don't know? Now I m just confusing, more and more. For the past years while learning english, the pictures shown in movies,TV shows are all just so appealing to me,to us, and that's why 99% Chinese is so eager to land in USA.Now, Americans, you tell me, please.

Hello :) I've lived in America, the US, my whole life. Like every country, we have our good points and our bad. There are the wealthy, but they are in the minority. We also have our poor, our homeless, crime, so much bad and good, all mixed in together. Not many here live in mansions, and the economy right now struggles. But...most of our people are good, strong, hard-working, and remain hopeful. We are generous, for the most part, with all others. In a struggle, we come together, and we do get to "speak" to our govt. about what is good or bad. I can think of no other place I would rather live, although I do wish to be able to travel to other countries and get to know their culture, and especially their peoples. Karen

No, not at all. I love my country, but that does not make me blind to either it's good points or bad. The truth should never offend :) Thank you for the Best Response. Karen

I'm a guy trying to further my study in the US,the reason why I want I choose the US is I could learn the most advannced knowledge in my field there. Maybe the US is not a perfect place to live ,but it may be a perfect place to be considering our goal.
