I know all of us experience studying in schools and everyone have their favorite and most hated teacher. Although, teacher should be look up as a role model. They are not perfect and so are their students. However, their is an instances you still encounter annoying and irritating teachers. They are we called terror teacher just seeing them near or call your name. You could feel your body in tingling motion, getting nervous, then she/he call you to recite and you found yourself dumb founded and tongue tied. What seem to be the problem?
Although you think of yourself as a good law abiding students their is inside of your mind that like to rebel, but then you could nothing or make a bad face as it is hard to be expel losing your scholarship or other privileges. On the other hand, you like this particular teacher and just seeing her/him enter the classroom. You eyes is all overly stuck to look at her/him then you even day dream. Until he/she come and you get caught in that kind of situation. You then smile and say hello. That is the start of a new day fro you, full of inspiration and good thinking makes you an optimistic person and study hard in your academic subjects just to be notice by your teacher. You develop crush/admiration for her.him your teacher..
How about you, How could you describe your experience with a best and worst teacher? Kindly shares your thoughts. thanks.

I think my worst teacher has got to be my chinese teacher when i'm in primary school.. haha =D All along, my chinese has been quite good, and thus i need not be joining those extra tuition classes etc.. BUt i happened to be early for school one day, and thus i join in.. I guess that makes the teacher unhappy, and she begin to make remarks about my chinese, saying my grades are not good, and make me attend the tuition!! and i hate for her for that!! haha
As for my best teacher, it has got to be my history teacher in secondary school.. haha =D HE's friendly, and most importantly, i'm good in that subject too.. haha

It's not repeating the same level again.. Rather it's more like going for extra lessons to improve on grades.. haha
YEah, i like history as well, as it allows me to learn more in depth, making it more interesting.. haha =D As well as knowing the developments and those monacharies in the past to all the democracy now.. hehe

ah..alright...
my brother is pressure to sit in as they he still young to during his first school...
although he is capable they doubt he could not be the same level with the other classmate beyond his age..
well...learning history covers a lot of interesting subjects with varying concepts depending on the transition period as the things found today have its roots in the past...

hi kun,
That is really annoying situation which you encounter..
Does it mean you have to start from the same grade level again?
in my school they call it as saling pusa in our local dialects like my brother even though he is already know to read and write, but because he is still at a young age the teacher suggested him to join a class as part of training to sit in but actually not graded or student of a class.
well...history is my favorite subject too...
it like imaginary travel as even though you have not been gone to those places by just reading and listening to the story telling it could be feel like you are also traveling...

This is a cool discussion. I remember my schooling days and my teachers too. There were some nice ones. In fact, lots of them were nice, but there were 1 or 2 whom were very fierce.
But it worked, because the naughty students, including me could submit our homeworks on time, lol..

well..seriously speaking as a part of student life any kinds of mischief i think i already experience or have been a part of it then I just become serious with my study when i am in college, though the rest of the past years was merely bunch of playtime for me...
definitely i am not a sinner nor a saint , just halfway...

The worst teacher I ever had was Mrs. Hyde when I was in the first grade. She compared me to my cousins who had her for a teacher years before me. She expected me to be just like them instead of letting me be myself. She also compared my personality to theirs. I never forgave her the unfair treatment she inflicted on me.

hi mrfdg,
Well, that was very funny you really have the full courage to ask your teacher though he feel intimidated. So that would really be no escape as you would be left with no choice as he still would be your professor. That really a tough guy as he really know his specialization very well..
The way some teacher put their student to test is to make them learn their lesson very well. And in your cases you do well after that humiliating situation. That a good story to end you become bestfriend at the end which is better than being a teacher pest..I mean you become his teacher pet..
have a nice day!

Hello now, i had a lot say i needed some time, our Water pump made loud noises so i needed to see whats happening, BTW its MR Lardizabal, my professor in College trigonometry, he was a very hard teacher, he does not discuss lessons but always gives quizes, so i stood up for my classmates and question the guy, he answered me " if you dont like the way i teach, you are free to leave the room, any way if you decide to enroll the subject next semester, you'll still have me as your teacher" THose were his exact lines, but the guy was a real mathematician, if you remember the sine, cosine, tangent, deviations, he remembers it all,he does not need to look at the book for the values. So Mr Lardizabal placed me infront and always ask me recitation which nobody knows the answer, then he Failed me but he gave me a remedial exam, (after intense self pity) BUt when physics arrived next year, lol, he was my teacher again, but this time we became best friends, Maybe i should search for him in Facebook or Friendster, right that is what i am going to do.

I've had a bunch of really great teachers. However, I'd say the best teacher that I had was in high school and she taught English Literature-Level 4. I found her to be the best teacher because she actually PUSHED and CHALLENGED me; as well as all of her students. Her class was DEFINITELY not an "easy A" class. It was very challenging & took alot of hard work to pass. Honestly, I'm not even sure if she was teaching at the level. The coursework was difficult, but like I said I found her "challenging" to be very good.
Another "best" teacher I had is tied with the one above. He was my Algebra and Geometry teacher in highschool. I've always struggled in any type of math class, but he made numbers seem easy. I'm not sure why or how he did. It just seemed easier with him teaching the subjects. He was very passionate about it & actually put forth the extra efforts to HELP the students. First A's I ever got in ANY math class.
The worst teacher I ever had was in college...My algebra teacher. Like I said before, I have always struggled in math classes and needed a bit of help; especially after not having any math classes in a few years. I asked this teacher several times for help on this or that. I always got the same response, "It's math. there is only one answer. Figure it out." Of course, that was true. But if someone doesnt know HOW to find the answer HOW are they supposed to FIGURE IT OUT. Lack of teaching all together was why I believe that was my worst teacher. Never went over anything, just "here's your assignment. Read this chapter. Work is due tomorrow, etc" Needless to say, I dropped the class!

hi marcusandila,
That great that despite the strict demeanor that your teacher may be her way to discipline her students to take their study seriously that one need to project a highly, discipline attitude for her students to follow her as when a teacher is so kind and loose they are often get abuse by erring students who make pleasure in getting their teacher engage in heated argument. In your case you find it difficult to understand a Math subject not to the point that you are totally dumb but it is the matter of the quality of the teaching methods which someway the teacher bypass as most students are engage in other subjects as they think of math as a boring subject but for those who get the teacher point it definitely help them to grow maturely in contrast with their other peers who only study when their is an exam.

i remember a teacher whom i admire he is cute and kind. then he often call me to recite or write on the blackboard. their are times my classmates tease me and i say it is nothing he just like me as being obedient and the pretty student in his class. i keep it simple though i notice my classmates is jealous of me. i don't mind them and i study hard and get good grades. u to now i a still thinking of him and he is not yet married. i do hope will find each other and meet again. i fantasize to be his girlfriend but just keep it to myself. i am bit shy when it comes to telling my feeling..lol..i remember teacher who is worst those with big eyes, frown ace, and those spinster always very strict in teaching, maybe because they have no lovelife and as a students she vent her frustration on us..lol..teachers are fine as long they know to teach well..lol..

well, your experience is something which every students have done one point in their life as they likely admire who possess great personality as they are inspired to study more and the same time learn. The atmosphere of the classroom become even better when the students and teachers interact with each other and have a good amount of conversation as in participation. About your experience with the worst teacher their are times too during my study that i study under the guidance of my teacher who also pregnant and yet still manage to stay adorable unlike from your teacher which have strict demeanor are not good role models and professionalism should persist despite the inconvenience.

My best teacher got me through the General Certificate of Education in Maths. He was so very helpful because it I didn't understand he would explain the topic to me again quite happily. He let me and the other students know the easiest ways to work out some Maths questions. I had to get a grade C or higher to begin my teacher training. I think about him and feel grateful.
My worst teacher was the one that I got stuck with from age 14 to 16. He made me feel stupid because he said "it you are so thick I am not going to explain that to you again". That sort of talk made me not bother at all when I was at school doing Maths. I got a grade F in that subject. I got much better grades in all the subjects that I enjoyed.
I also liked an English teacher that I had when I was aged 14 to 16. He really inspired me. I went on to study English Literature at university. He showed me some great books. I found him to be an excellent person and he cared about animals too. I wish I could say thank you to Mr Y..., Mr B.... and what a shame to Dr R...

hi maximax,
That very fine experience you have with your teacher with the way you describe him as something a very interesting person with a good attitude who taught you and your classmates the appreciation of the math subject which eventually the opposite of me. Since the foundation of my math learning is basically shallow as i am never serious with studying math as it never had any fun in me since the very beginning. Then, when i reach college i have difficulty in grasping math subject that i often get low grades as the teacher is so strict that i often lost my attention and never really evokes my interest. Well, all your teacher in math and English are really supportive that they even extend it by allowing you to lend their books., which is simply amazing which inspired you to study more..

In high school we had this terror teacher, who everyone is afraid of. She was really strict, her subject was hard, her exams were harder, and athletes who come begging for extra credit to reach the grade be able to play don't stand a chance with her. She was fair though, because as long as she can see that you are trying your best in class, she wouldn't fail you despite her reputation. And you know what, when I hit college, I realized that I was very fortunate to have gone through that teacher. I did exceptionally well in the subjects I had with her because I had such good foundation in high school.
I also had another teacher, she was extremely nice, good natured, and she was really kind to us, like when she thinks we are having a hard time at quizzes, she would convert it to seatwork, so we can share answers. The bad thing about that is that I never learned anything in her subject.
I guess we don't really realize how a teacher is the best or the worst until the school year is over. In the middle of the year, I would have judge the terror teacher as the worst, and the nice teacher as the best. But weighing it out by how much I learned, my rating for both would be reversed. The terror teacher wa sthe best, and the nice one the worst.

hi mymelodake,
I do know teacher who are like the same things which you describe. teacher sometimes need to portray a strong character for the students to respect her thus the image must be a strong one and full of superiority complex. As this may be the best techniques which she would like the students to be aware that they would follow her instruction and let the students to persevere to do well in her class. Thus, only naughty students would feel afraid of teacher who have a high standards of teachings that they would fear the sight of the teacher who would later discipline them for being naughty with mischievous behavior.
Though, their may be an insult or some remarks emanates from the terror teacher they do it for the sake of the students to study hard and prepare for them for the more complicated world they have to face when they are outside of the 4 wall building wall of the schools. As the real challenges await after the graduation. Though, you are right with your own conclusion the best teacher who could make you realize to give more values to your education is no other than the terror teacher as she have implement strict rules but with positive reinforcement for the students to learn to. thanks for responding.

I had a teacher that taught me for five years from 1st grade to 5th grade when I lived in Italy many years ago. I believe that a good teacher is so by nature and you cannot instruct someone how to be a dedicated teacher. This lady had a passion for teaching and came from a wealthy background and did not need to work but she did because she loved it and it showed. She knew me better than my mother did and when I left the country to come and live in Australia she cried. I have told this here before; she gave me a children’s book about a newspaper reporter who could talk to animals and would travel the world to interview them. My favourite teacher knew all those years ago about my passion for writing and for animals!
As far as a worst teacher, I would have to say the lady who taught me in 6th grade when I first arrived in Australia was old, mean and showed no understanding to the fact that I could not speak a word of English!

That really very true, paula. Teacher should have compassion in teaching to become an effective mentor. Though, some become teacher by profession have really no real concern with the welfare of the students and prefer to teach to augment their income then after rigid lecturing they look like in a hurry to finish their instruction without emphasizing or encouraging their student to take the academic subjects seriously. That the routine method continue for day drives many students to get tired of attending classes and sometimes procrastinate, seeing the dry and boring teacher with her method of teaching is terrible..lacking enthusiasm to make a students participate.
Well, in your case your lucky to meet a teacher like that who gives values to the importance of animals as both a sources of entertainment as a companion too. Thus, it add to your interest being an animal lover that you become and for being a writer enthusiast. lastly, the worst teacher whom you encounter may be a lack of understanding and should guide you instead of demoralizing your English inefficiency. Though, now days you have now fully excelled in English!!

My favorite teacher was my sixth grade teacher. Her name was "Mrs. Dutton" and she always had the best patience, which to me is important if you're going to be a good teacher. She also had a very positive attitude about everything. There was nothing that none of us couldn't do, in other words. On the other hand, my worst teacher had to be my third grade teacher. She didn't have any patience with any of us at all. Her name was "Mrs. Cowden". Back then, teachers could use the paddle and she paddled me one time for staying too long in the restroom. I was always kind of slow. I had worn pants to school one time and she told me if it took me as long as it did in the restroom to not wear pants to school any more. She didn't always paddle me but that wasn't the only time she jumped on me. It always upset me, too. Kathy.

Hi kathy,
you're so lucky to have a teacher who helps mold your character to become more a better person learning form the realm of the classroom being inspired by good teacher who really show her support to her students progress by encouraging them to study at their own pace, without due pressure. That is the kind of setup and learning which every student have dream of. Although some are not so kind as the way you describe it as every teacher remarks have somehow left an impact to the mind of their students could either make or break a students heart and some easily becomes so upset while others take it as a challenges. Thanks for sharing your stories about teachers they are really quite very interesting...

My worst teacher knew that I lived on a farm and she knew we had cattle and horses out here. She also knew how much I liked to ride horseback. She used to embarass me in front of the class by saying things like "You're no more listening to me than if you were at home riding your pony!" I told a friend of mine about this one time and she thought it was funny. It wasn't funny to me at the time. It was embarassing to me because horses are expensive animals and some of my friends were jealous because they couldn't afford one. I've had a lot of other worst teachers since her. I played in the band when I was in high school and I had a pretty rough band director. I won't go into detail about the things he did but a lot of people quit on account of him. I stuck it out, though, because I wanted to major in music when I got to college. Kathy.

My best and worse teacher was the same person. She was my English teacher all through High school. I went to a small private school so we had the same teachers all four years. My English teacher was a pain she required nothing less than perfection. You always dreaded to get papers back from her because they would be covered in red ink.
She also made us read books that were on the college level and expected reports on them at a college level. Her final exams were ones people always stressed about and would always loose sleep over.
But I realized once I got to college how much I owed to her. She made my college years so much easier since she had already set the bar so high for me. I had learned in high school a technique for studying and writing papers that helped me breeze through college while my friends and roommates were stressing and spending many sleepless nights

hi jennymarie,
Well, that is the benefit of having a strict teacher as they are not really get along with their students as their own techniques to discipline their students and be motivate to study more which is a good things in your case you realize your teacher teaching only prepare you from more not so easy college life that when you already reach such as stages. Their may tendency for you to get acquainted with the college system to take your study seriously would only gives you more advantages than disadvantages. The good things it help you to overcome college life and even make you a better person being inspire by your teacher good examples who believe in your own ability to be successful in your lie and so on..

lol..Well, that is your worst day! and have to be patience with your professor as some teacher really have a strict personality but deep inside they also have the soft sentiments is just that they are not really kind in expressing it. This may be the teacher way to make their students become aware of the importance of studying and to make them more active in the class. In your case.. why do you find him boring? maybe he is very dry in his method of teaching that makes his students feel sleepy on class or else he get a bad attitude in the way he treat his students unfairly. I had a few favourite teachers at school. I had a great science teacher in high school, he was so enthusiastic about the subject you couldn't help but get caught up with it and love science. My German teacher in high school was also really good I found her teaching methods great, and still have a love for learning newlanguages now. My worst teacher was my design teacher in high school, she was very snooty and would belittle students in front of the class, she was awful and had a bad reputation throughout the school- no-one liked her.

It is a good things you have good memory of your favorite teacher being able to learn a lot from his instructions and make you interested to study because of his great teaching method. Then, your worst teacher as you describe is not well like as he seem like to under estimate his student which develop hatred among your fellow classmates for his demeaning behavior. hi antiquelady,
It is a good things to remember the best and worst teacher it get a person back to the past and relive the good memories of being a student. Everyone in the school classes could easily identify the most favorites teacher as they all amiable and approachable/ In comparison to worst teacher as the students are very afraid to communicate with them as they are always in bad moods and not good in teaching that many students are not inspire to study and they just sit until they wait the class to go uninterested with the lesson of the teacher because it has no charisma to make her teaching to lure students to become attentive to her subject lesson.thanks.

hi everyone, it is a plesure to describe my literature in English teacher.she was dedicated, commited to her work. Although it has been for long but I will never forget her, she is a wonderful counsellor, she likes to dramatise and she can do anything to explain her topic or novel. I can remember how she explain the novel called 'Macbeth' and Animal farm which made it easier for me to have dictinction in her subject, sweet is her memory. Also, my worst teacher ever was the one that teaches my native language, she was not cmmited at
all. Instead of her to focus on the topic she does otherwise.cheers.

My best teacher was my Latin teacher in high school. She made learning a new language fun and exciting. She had games and competitions for us to use and we watched a series called I, Claudius that got us interested in Roman history as well. She took those of us that really loved the language and culture to Italy - if we could afford it. It was the vacation of my lifetime and I will never forget it...she also took us to state and national conventions which were a blast as well.
My worst teacher was an english teacher I had in college last year. He made us sit in a circle like we were in grade school and share our work out loud, which I hate doing. I don't mind reading out loud to others, but I don't like being forced to share my writings with others. He gave us no choice and that resulted in me missing a lot of class but I dont regret it. I hated being forced to do that and I just fought back in the only way i knew how to.

Well, your best teacher inspire you to study more and with her behavior toward you and fellow students. Then, it is fine that part of the subject is to travel and that is the kind of student life which I like to experience, having to learn and have fun at the same time is truly an amazing feat. About your worst teacher, that is her style and every teacher have different method and although student may dislike her manner of the teaching then could not do so as being a students is always act like underdog and just follow with the flow and everything would be settle down.

My best teacher was my 7th grade teacher, Sister Eleanor...I don't know why she was so different than the others throughout my school years, but I believe it was her personality and the fact that she accepted all of her students as they were. She didn't try to mold us to be all alike, or to be what she wanted us to be. She didn't want us to be like perfect little robots, and instead enjoyed each of the different characteristics of each of her students, and didn't condone us if we weren't the perfect little student that most expect us to be.
As for my worse teacher, I would have to say it was my 4th grade teacher, Miss Sealey. She lived upstairs from my grandmother at the time, and one day, in front of the whole classroom, she mentioned that I walked like my grandmother. From that day forward, I got harrassed from other students that I walked like an old lady. That stayed in the back of mine for a very long time, and it took me years to forgive her.
What most teachers don't understand is that they can either make you or break you.
Because as you said, they aren't perfect either, and tend to forget that they are a very important influence in your life. And what they do or say, could make a whole lot of difference in a child's life.

hi sweet,
your lucky to be under the class of sister Eleanor as she help you to become a better person. It is really nice to be able to express oneself and practice freedom of learning with not much restriction. Allowing students to explore makes them inspire to study and learn well not only from the subject lesson about the whole life too. About your experience with the worst teacher you are deeply feel insulted and those things remain in your mind because you are deeply hurt with her remarks. Though, it is already past and the good things you already forgive her which makes you again as a better person as it is not a good feeling to hide what one really feel it only makes the heart heavy then after you forgive her eventually you would feel light again. It really helps the students to have a kind and understanding teacher motivates them to study and so on.

I can clearly recall my schooldays.
I was in front of my favorite teacher Mrs. Thomas.
She used to teach us English And Moral Science. She became my favorite teacher as she used to teach us great lessons and her command on English was magical.
She once told us that only "You are the best Teacher of Yourself as you learn from Your Mistakes."
This was the time when she was awarded as most beloved teacher of the year by the school.

hi harsh,
Well the same saying hit me most as they are essentially true as mistakes is the best teacher as a teacher is only their to guide a students to get serious in their study. But, eventually your own success depend on your performance and seriousness, No one could help you to get better on your life except you. thanks for sharing.

Yup, teachers are of different kinds of attitudes as some inspired while other could either break or make up the quality of the child. Therefore, children attitudes is affected and the way one view her life. It is nice you found your teachers as one with admirable traits that you are inspired to study and have impact in your career.
