ok this question has arisen from the response i got in another discussion and thanks to the person who brought it to my attention i'm really curious now. the person in question stated that no one in recorded history has read through all of return of the king because they skip parts out of sheer boredom. my thoughts on this are wow i had no idea people didn't just slowly work their way through it like i did. so be honest now i'm not going to berate you for it or anything i'm just wondering if i'm the only one who cant leave a book even one as tedious as that unfinished?

I read all three of them all the way through. I also read the Hobbit. Honestly I had the most trouble with the Hobbit and the least trouble with Return of the King...maybe I was used to the writing style by then but I think I had the least trouble because I wanted to know what happened. I finished the book long before the movie came out and it was my favorite...and the movie was my favorite too. There have been books that I haven't finished, but very few. Usually I can't leave a book unfinished...my curiosity always gets the better of me.

i read the hobbit long before i read any of the trilogy i was 9 and i only read the trilogy a few years ago tho i had tried to start reading it several times before that. i do agree that the third movie was great tho i still like the second best for some reason i cant remember. i now remember one book i never finished but i don't know why it was inkheart and now i'm being driven nuts wondering what happened and thinking i want to read the others that go after it :)
