This photo shows some houses for the Holidays that my mom made many years ago. Before she passed 11 years ago she said she wanted me to have them as I loved them so much. I display them each year. They are made from plastic that she cut to size, then used yard and beads etc for the rest. In the middle is the large Reindeer stables, there is also a post office, toy factory, candy shop etc. I can add other photos as I add comments to your resaponses as well. Have you any treasures for the holidays from your mom on display each year?

hi grandpa bob will have to take a look at your houses.sound
fascinating to me. our treasures are in storage if they got
'there, our whole descent from home to homeless was wrought
with ugly happenings, my son did not realize how large a space he needed to store our belongings nor did he realize we needed a much larger moving van than the one he rented either. so we had to leave a lot of our stuff at the old apartment as we had no place to store and no other truck to pick up the leftovers, so we lost so much.I know, they are just things but some of them meant an awful lot to me.

I also have a lot of 50 year old ornaments she made when I was a small child. Here's a close up of one of these houses as well.
The toy factiry, see the little beads as door knobs?
I add cotton balls as chimney smoke each year also.

No, I know my mom was very creative at one point, but for a long time, over twenty five years, she did nothing. NO creativity, no nothing. I love the idea of your plastic canvas village, made by your mom. It is a cute thing to decorate with.

They are cute! She must have been a crafty lady cause she did a great job on those. Isn't nice to put them out at Christmas time and remember all the great memories? I don't really have anything sentimental passed down that people gave me but I do have all the ornaments my grandmother bought for me. Each year she would buy us (my brother and I) an ornament and have our names engraved on them and I still have them.

Nothing beats homemade for decorations. I don't really have anything special of my mom's for decorating. I do, however, have a ceramic Christmas tree from my grandma that came from Italy. It lights up when plugged in with a shiny star on top. It's packed away with care being I have nowhere to display it now.

When Mum and Dad retired, they moved to the country. Dad went ahead by a few weeks and left Mum to finalise the sale of the house and the move of all their goods and the turning off of phone electricity etc. I went over to their place just before Mum was to leave to make sure everything was ok. There was a pile of stuff outside the back gate in the laneway, including all our Christmas decorations. There were lots of glass baubles some older than me. I scooped everything up and still have most of them to this day...they moved in 18976. I hope to pass them on to my daughter when my time comes, plus the lovely ones I have collected.

Alot of the family keepsakes are still with my grandfather. He has kept them. Even though we would love to have and cherish them. My grandmother passed 18 years ago. He hasn't wanted to pass them down yet. From my mother, she gave my hubbya nd I an ornament for our tree when we were 1st together. We make sure it is on the tree each year!

Hey Grandpa Bob! Or should I refer to you as my "Adopted Bro"!
I remember last Christmas when you first displayed those absolutely
beautiful ornaments that your Mom had made! And you showed us
the and told us how she made them all by hand! They are so
beautiful and incredibly made that it is hard to believe that
they were made each piece, by hand! The are just so magnificent
and exquisite! You don't see anything like them anywhere and never
will! They are all one of a kind! You are so fortunate to have
the and be able to display them each year and pass them down
to all the generations to come, and there sure are many already!
I can't wait to get there and see them "up close" this Christmas!
Oh, yeah, by the way, when are you expecting "Crazy Auntie Opal"
anyways?

My mom has a little village collection that she started about 5 years ago. I assume that someone in my family will get these when she passes away. Which I pray is not for a long time. Also I am sorry for your loss of your mother. I lost my dad three years ago this month and for me this is the hard time of the year for me and my family. I know that she my mother enjoys collecting these little village items and my daughters and I got her a new one this year. I am hoping to buy a few more so she can add them to her growing collection as well. Take care and I hope I answered your questions here happy mylotting as well.
