the unwritten 15 minute rule.

Okay so, i woke up at 4:40am getting ready to go to work because I have an opening shift at McDonalds. Well, when i get there, my manager should've been there since 4:30am already and yet she hasn't arrived yet. What I did, I waited outside during the store with autumn cold morning... ...10 mins passed, 20 mins passed, 30 mins passed... and no one has arrived yet. I have heard about this unwritten 15 minute rule, that if your manager/teacher doesn't show up after 15 minutes, they can't possibly expect you to wait for them, until whenever they show up. So then I decided to go home. Was I right or wrong?

I would say you was wrong! I understand that your manager was late although that couldbe been for a good reason. She may have fallen ill. If she has kids something may have happened to one of them. Unless it states in your contract that if your manager doesnt turn up neither do you then you face getting the sack. Thats the last thing you need in the current climate. When its your next shift you need to apologise and think of a very good excuse as to why you went home. If I was your manager I wouldnt take it. I am telling you this as I have been a manager before and it doesnt take alot to push us over the edge! Again I understand that your manager was too in the wrong for being late but dont whatever you do say that top her as you will probably put her in a real bad mood! Good luck and happy myLotting! Hope I havent put you in a bad mood!
