Ive often wondered what other countries are like and how their cultures work. Ive always wanted to travel or even backpack around somewhere but ive never gotten around to it. Ive not been that well off so i would have had to work hard to do it but i know i would have been able to save for it if i tried but ive never even got around to buying a passport! I often wonder now that times are alot harder and its all about whether ive got enough food for a week whether i will ever go for a short vacation. Mind you there is some lovely, beautiful places in this country so maybe i never need to leave. What do you think? have you ever left your country? What country do you live in? Do you live near a tourist attraction?

I love to travel. For many years I wanted very much to go to Ireland from my home of US. That was my major dream as far as traveling was concerned. Now I realize it would cost money I just don't have and so I have put it away and see what I can of it on cable. I think the passport rules and how much it costs to get one makes it hard to even get up into Canada again which I would like to do at some point. I went to British Columbia, Canada in the mid 90's and am now glad I made it when I did. It was beautiful and I got to see Victoria there as well. Lovely little tourist town. Would love to go again. Yes, I am sure there are lovely places in everyone's own country. I don't live near any great tourist spots. Crater's of the Moon maybe or Yellowstone National Forest and The Seattle Space Needle are the only ones close I can think of. And I am relatively close to the Oregon coast.

I live on the edge of a coastal town in England. My home overlooks countryside. The town is popular with tourists in the summer time. I used to live in the South East. I have traveled to 50 different countries in the world so far. I always make sure my passport is in date. I have taken advantage of cheap flights, under £100 to other places in Europe, £200 to Mexico and $1000 around the world. I think it is never too late to go off traveling abroad. It sounds like you are happy with your life so it wouldn't matter if you didn't go traveling but it might be really enjoyable for you if you did. Good luck.

I live in the sunny island of Malta and I have visited Tunisia, various places in England, Ireland and Scotland, Sicily. I prefer to visit cooler countries at least to take a break from our hot weather. That's why I prefer visiting England Which part of UK do you come from?

I don't think you have to worry much about it. At least, it is not much to worry about in my situation. I live in the Philippines where close family ties is valued. I find myself forced to take part in festivities around the country and visit relatives and in someway get to know my country's rich heritage. Even friends tend to drag me along in the most surprising times. People here don't tend to complain much except about political stuff where a lot of people tend to blame a pool of problems towards the government. I guess if you work for your government then you could have a reason to not get out a lot.
It seems to be magical to go along during most unexpected situations specially when not being in the mood and can be very annoying but also unexpectedly fun. It is easy when your with a lot a people. Knowing that others have needs to and finding common ground is something I picked up along this experiences. I hope you find the time to enjoy a good long vacation. :-)

It is good going on little random gettaways around my local countrysides as we have some awsome countrysides and views and often in your everyday hustle and bustle dont actually get around to noticeing these wonders so i dont need to worry about going abroad as ive got enough culture around me here in the UK Thanks for your comments and maybe one day i will have a real long vacation!

I live in Engald too but, have travelled abroad many times - in fact I work in the travel industry which has in turn allowed me to probably travel more than I ever would have done if I had not worked in this profession!
I cannot remember a time when I had not travelled somewhere abroad and cannot imagine not doing so now - I hope one day you manage to see outside of our country as there are so many wonderful places out there!

Well dude all i would say is England is one of the beautiful places anyone would love to visit and Europe ofcource it is a great place i live in India and to be honest India has a lot of beautiful places too but compared to Europe its not even close but i would still like to see anything that is beautiful but unfortunatly i dont have the enough finance to do that so all i would say for you is try to see the places u can in England itself all beautiful places in England if u can dont save money for it cause if u want to go on a trip or a vacation go when u get the money that is if u want to go alone by urself if u wanna go with ur wife or g/f then save or if u want to go to a foriegn place or a country to meet someone then save otherwise i dont advice u on saving just for u alone to go and see cause instead of doing that u can buy something for urself like a new flatscreen tv or a car or something
I would advice u to go and see the places that are inside ur country first and i would request u to do that only if u have or get money for that and not by saving , and u can save money if u are going to visit someone or ur going with someone cause ur not the only one who hasent gone anywhere for the vacations even i havent left India nor my city for a vacation so i think it all comes down to finance.
Cheers !

I have not lived a very charmed life either but I was able to travel out of my country once. I live in the US and yes..near a tourist attraction. I got to go to Japan once for a week. It was a business trip so the company footed the bill for a passport and my needs. It was a once in a lifetime trip for sure. I have traveled a lot within the US though. I enjoy it when I get to.

I am from Malaysia and the state I live in has many tourist attractions as well, in fact tourism industry is booming in where I live. Most tourists love to visit the islands, river cruise to witness the 'nature Christmas lights' - the fireflies and proboscis monkey, mount climbing, diving and many more!
I love traveling and I think you should try to save and go somewhere even for a short trip because once you have caught a travel bug, I am sure you are going to love it and will always looking forward to the next destinations.
Besides traveling to some of the states in my own country, I have been traveling overseas as well. I went to Italy a few years back and stayed there at my sis' place for about a month. It was fun and it really changed my perspective of life when I saw other cultures. I have also been to other countries in Asia such as Manila and Bangkok.
My hubby and I will only plan for a long journey trip once in a while due to the cost of traveling and because there are so many wonderful places in my country that we have not visited yet.

I live in England (sadly!), but I'm lucky, in that I've seen quite a few places. I've been to Albania, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Poland and the USA - but I've never had much money.
It's surprisingly cheap to go places, if you look out the good deals - and, as others have said, surprising what you can find on your own doorstep!
I've never been to Scotland or Ireland, which is obscene, as I hear nothing but good things about them.

I live in India. The place of varied culture and in true senses you can realise the spirits of unity in diversity. Right from kanyakumari to jammu the people hear are the real sources of admiration and will let you feel, this is real heaven to live in. There are hefty no of incidents which tells the source of brotherhood. Dude, Y london? it might be the place of huge wonders.. but india, in all senses is the best place for unity, spirits.

I live in Singapore. Though it is small, I'm still veeeerrryy far away from where tourists would most likely want to go. I live within a housing estate in the North of the country (but the main attractions for tourists are mostly in the center or south).
I have flown to countries like US, etc.. I'm born Filipino by the way XD

I live in Florida which is one of the largest tourist state (Disney World). I have left the country one time on a cruise and I went to the Bahamas. It was amazing to find out that the bahamas was a lot like Florida, it was just the people that were a bit different. When times and money are tough, it might be just as fulfilling to take a virtual trip around the world. I believe it's definitely worth the effort to save money and take a trip at a later time, but def don't stress yourself over it. If it's coulture you want to learn about, join a diversified group of people online and talk to them. It's amazing how similar people are.
