Below is an article i saw on line, actually this is a response in one of the topics raised but i was advised to post this as a discussion so everyone will also benefit from it one way or another. Cheers!
Most people do not consider drinking hot water refreshing or to have any health benefits in addition to those gained by drinking cold water. Although drinking cold water on a regular basis is good for your health, some experts believe that drinking hot water can be equally beneficial, but in slightly different ways. Both hot and cold water hydrates you, which is the main benefit of drinking water. Cold water sounds more appealing to most people, and does help burn a few extra calories after a work out than lukewarm water. It is also absorbed into the bloodstream easier, which helps hydrate your body, especially if you have been sweating, which dehydrates your body. However, some people are drinking hot water as a way of purifying their bodies, very much like going to a sauna.
If you drink a glass or two of hot water, you increase your body temperature slightly. Your body, in order to maintain your temperature around 98.6 degrees, will begin to sweat to cool itself down. The sweating induced by drinking hot water helps purify your bloodstream by flushing toxins out of your body. It is reported that drinking hot water also helps remove deposits in the nervous system that have a negative effect on your thoughts and emotional responses. By drinking hot water, you are able to purify your body and mind, creating a balance that will make you feel healthier and think more clearly.
Hot Water Uses
You can use hot water to purify yourself simply by drinking a glass of hot water once or twice a week. The water should be quite warm so that it causes you to sweat, but does not burn your mouth when you drink it. You should begin to sweat quite a bit as your body tries to lower its temperature. After you stop sweating, wipe away the perspiration and begin drinking another glass of hot water to balance your temperature.
Drinking hot water is also extremely useful in clearing your nasal cavities, especially if you are sick. The water vapor causes the buildup to loosen and make you feel less congested. Using hot water is preferable to tea or coffee, since their caffeine will dehydrate you, and that is the last thing you need when you are sick. In addition, sweating some can help you to remove some toxins from your body and hopefully get better sooner, and improve your overall health.

well, maybe i should try drinking hot water once in a while. I only drink hot water when i drink coffee or tea, but that rarely happens. Like at most 5 times a month, i think. i usually just drink cold water because i love the feeling it gives, especially after a really tiring game of basketball or tennis, or just after a tiring or warm day. Not to mention that it really is easily absorbed (relatively faster than warm) by our body so it really quenches your thirst faster.
what i really just do not believe is that drinking cold water is bad especially after eating "fatty" foods because it will make the oil to turn into solid and get stuck in your veins and arteries. that has never happened and there is no medical proof that that can and will happen. What i am sure of is that eating excess fatty foods can and will clog your veins and arteries.

yeps..i definitely agree on that. Well, i would just like to say that that is already old news for me. But for some, they just heard it so they stopped drinking cold water altogether. You see, i was waiting for my order in a fast-food chain here in the Philippines, when in the next table i was seated at, there was this group of men, probably in their 50s and one of them shared this story to the others. Well, i cannot simply just butt in and tell them that what they are talking is wrong or something, but i just listened to them and the guy just telling the story said that he is never drinking cold water/or any drink for that matter anymore. Well, i don't know why but he is definitely missing out on a lot, at least in my opinion.

It's a fact that most people prefer to drink cold over hot water when it comes to quenching thirst. But with the health benefits mentioned in the article, I'm sure a lot will do now. I came across the email you mentioned also and I am also skeptical because the acid in our stomach is strong enough that it can even melt steel. Besides, our body temperature alone is enough to warm the cold water ones it enter the body what more when it reaches the stomach? Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

I have heard about how good it is for you to drink warm water, my mother always drinks room temp water instead of ice water, but I have to have ice cold water. It doesn't matter if its the middle of winter, it has to be ice cold. It just doesn't seem as refreshing to me if it isn't cold.

I agree, cold water water just tastes better than hot water. maybe that's the reason why you have to add coffee or tea to it so you can add flavor to it. But the article is very informative, hot water may taste bland but considering the health benefits, taking some sometimes don't seem to be too much of a sacrifice. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Thanks for the information. I used to think only cold water has benefits, like helping burn a few calories. Maybe I will start drinking hot water once or twice a week as you suggested. Maybe that is why Asians live long, especially the chinese and Japanese. I know they love drinking hot tea. Overall, I think water is very very beneficial to all, be it hot or cold or even lukewarm.

I have the same mind set as well, who would have thought that hot water has so many health benefits? This article is really very informative. Besides you can't really go wrong with water as long as it's clean. Actually this is not the case of which is good or bad, but its a case of what is better. I think hot water is better based on the benefits enumerated in the article. What's bad is if you drink it when it's too hot like what i did a few minutes ago, my tongue still hurts up to now LOL. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

Yes, compared with drinking water cold, there are benefits to drinking hot water.
We can really benefit a lot from drinking hot water. As we drink hot water, it increases the temperature of your body, which eventually makes your body sweat to keep the body cool. In terms of sweating, the blood streams get cleaner and the toxins get flushed out of body. Besides, drinking hot water has also impact on our psychological aspect. Yes, it is a fact that the hot water helps in removing the deposits in our nervous system, which eventually boost your mood and mental status.
Thanks for your sharing these useful tips here. Happy myLotting!

Honestly, I really don't drink hot water whether it's winter season. It's better for me to drink normal temperature of water. Hot or cold water, it's just seasonal. Drink hot water if it's winter season. Drink cold water if it's warm season.

Well, i agree since most are used to drinking water from the faucet or from the fridge. The only time you drink hot water, is by adding coffee, tea or whatever it is to add taste to the water. But if what the article says it's true then why don't you give it try? Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

I have also heard some say drinking warm to hot water will fill up your stomach somewhat and make you feel full so you do not eat as much. Although I did not know that it had the effects of purifing and removing toxins I will probably start doing this. I have to get back on track with my health goals again, I have fallen off the wagon and since being sick and banned from work until the end of this week I am goig to get back on the wagon and work on my stuff.!! YAY thanks for the informational article.

Drinking hot beverages in hot weather may sound funny but i recall someone telling me that a hot beverage will actually assist your body in lowering body temperature. I don't about that since i tend to drink cold water during hot weather. It just feels good when you feel the ice cold water in your throat as it quenches your thirst. Thanks for sharing.

WOW! That is surprising. I never thought that it does except warm my empty stomach. I guess in a bad day this would be a great drink. Where did you find this info? I would like to scan some of their topics if there are more.

wow. This is something new that I didn't know about. I tend to drink coffee, but every so often when it summer time, I drink white tea because I think it is more refreshing on a hot day. But when I am sick, I would tend to drink black tea.

I agree, because water just tastes good if you drink it cold rather than hot. And a lot don't seem to realize that water can help your body as much as tea is. But this article really helped a lot. As it turned out hot water is more beneficial than tea because of the caffeine. That's why i did not have second thoughts when i was advised to post it as a discussion since I'm sure a lot will be informed. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

It's good to hear that you like the article. Its very informative, I'm sure a lot will drink more water now for it health benefits. I was not aware of the benefits also until i read the article. I've mentioned in my previous response that the Chinese are already doing this since hot water is included in a Chinese restaurants menu. I've even read that some Chinese would get angry if a restaurant don't serve hot water LOL. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

The article is very informative and interesting. I'm sure a lot will benefit from it since a lot are not aware of the health benefits of drinking hot water, including me. I think the Chinese are aware of it already because I heard on the radio that hot water is actually part of the menu in a Chinese restaurant. I'm not sure if there's truth to that, but it seems that they knew all along the benefits to the body when you drink hot water. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

...Hi ybong007, Well this is very interesting and thank you for posting this. I have not read the article, but for the last year or so whenever I come across someone who is sick I have told them to drink boiled water with a little lemon. As much as they can, because it makes sense to me that you want to wash whatever is in your body and making you sick out of it. You probably need a potassium pill to keep your body chemistry in check, but it should purify the body. And my goodness there is information which supports my theory. What else can I think of to help humanity?
Take care.

Well, sometimes there are things that most of us take for granted. And drinking hot water is one of them. I believe that one of the main reason we exercise if to raise our body temperature so we will sweat. It turns out, you can do this by just drinking hot water without much effort. Although I'm not saying we should stop exercising at all. Drinking hot water is a good way to sweat especially if you can't exercise in cases when you are not feeling well. But it's good to know that you're already doing this at least you can now have basis that drinking hot water has its benefits and this article will validate it. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

If you dip in you finger in butter and wash off your hands with cold water you can see its still in your hand and you will feel uneasy..right?
But if you wash off with warm water and then feel the difference.... now you may think why I am saying so?
Actually warm water helps to remove fat. If every day having meal we drink warm water it causes sweating and it really helps to remove the layer of fat. warm water make you feel light.
So drink lots of water and preferably warm....
