For me the pen can start a war, a sword also can. The pen can make a person to jail, the sword can kill. The pen can give you properties in a seconds of signature, the sword also can but will take time. The sword can kill a dozen, but the pen can kill a million. How about you? What is your opinion about this. Do you agree with this?

The pen definitely is mightier than the sword. It can kill you slowly and painfully by denying you all that you desire in life and point you towards the gutter. It can give you a very painful life where you retain your senses but wish you did not.The sword too can give you a physical disability but cannot generally kill you morally. The pen hurts the heart and mind and can break a person whereas a sword creates physical damage and mental damage to a much lesser extent.

O yes i agree with you, and thanks for adding that info, i forgot to include that, the sword can also give us psychological/mental/emotional pains. A pen can kill millions of people if countries will agree and sign with a war right? That is why i really agree that pen is mightier than a sword. And we both have the same kind of thinking.

Yes like what our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal he wrote novels to reveal the scandals, crime and cruelty of Spaniards who invade us before. Even if he didn't fight for the revolution his contribution to our freedom was also been recognized. I agree that pen is much more mightier than the sword and at the same time it is can ruin the life of other people mentally and physically.

I personally believe the pen is far mightier than the sword in many different ways. The pen is able to both start and end wars with far more subtlety and effectiveness than the sword, and can even find peace during conflict in a way that is indeed impossible for the sword. The pen can murder discreetly and efficiently, yet to kill with the sword is a messy and easily noticeable process. Many have killed through the pen and have managed to remain undiscovered by their evil deeds, yet those that have killed with the sword never evade capture for long... Anybody can wield the sword and use it to cause damage, yet only a master can wield the pen and create similar results. The pen is also able to bring peaceful resolve to a situation, yet the only resolve the sword knows of is a barbaric and bloody one.

I 100% agree with. Nicely said my friend. A pen can be used in may ways. A pen can be great and powerful in many ways. But the sword can only be used in physical conflicts. I haven't heard of a sword that has been used to heal people except for animations... At present a pen is more often used than a sword. The pen is still a main tool of the people but not the sword. A pen is usable at present but the sword right now is only for display, unless someone decided to use it to finish a conflict.

Yes, I agree. The pen can start a war..true. But it also has the power to end one as well. Communication is a powerful tool. More so than any weapon!

You are right about that, it can start and even end it. Miss communication leads to a very big conflicts that can give very deep scars and long pain. Written mean words to a letter is very hard to endure than being wounded into a physical fight. The pen can write a law that will order the swords to fight or the opposite. It is truly indeed the Pen is mightier than a sword, not only in terms of war but also in many aspects. Thank you so much for the response, happy mylotting.

Yeah,I complete agree with you that, a pen is mightier than the sword. Do you know a Chinese writer named Luxun who can be one usde pen to kill enemies. He proved that the pen is mightier than the sword. I do hope that my can save the people more than hurt them.

You are right, the people must learn to use the pen to help others than hurting. Pen should be used to heal others not to kill. A pen is very powerful that is why it has to be used in a proper way. soldiers cannot use the sword unless a pen writes an order to use it. i also so hope that my pen can save a lot of people not destroy them.

The philippine national hero did use that phrase and I definitely agree with him. A pen can influence thousands or even millions. A sword can persuade a few but end up with higher possibility of failure. Nowadays, the pen may be referred to as any form of writing. We should not take the 'pen' as literally a ballpoint pen or plume. In context the pen now is definitely by all means the strongest weapon one can use. Take for instance mylot, tweeter or facebook. All these can change people's lives without having someone to point swords against anyone.

Yes our National hero Jose Protacio Mercado Rizal use this phrase. Because of his written words on his books, he opened the eyes and mind of the people, on what are the things that is needed to be done in order for this country be free in the hands of the conquerors. He used the pen as his weapon that started a great era that freed the country from being colonized.

I aso agree with you. The pen is as might or mightier than the sword. The tongue alos can set fires as the bible sale (James 3:6). Also the book of Proverbs gives numerous examples of how the tongue caneither cause or prevent maledies. I think that the tongue and pen are related because an individual, cleric, leader or group can send an audio tape out and cause the same thing as would happen if something was written into order.

You are right about that, the pen is like the tongue that can throw harsh words and create a great war. They are very much correlated, it's like a leader write a law and the speaker spread it with his tongue. The pen is used to write a book, the teacher used his/her tongue to teach what is written on the book. A pen is used to write what was on the bible, priest use their tongue to spread the word.

I dont think so, though you put your arguments cleverly. I equate the pen with communication, & communication can break down barriers. Whilst the world leaders are communicating, they are likely not to be fighting wars. The pen also makes me think of creativity, reports, news and many ways of keeping in touch, discovering and being educated.

You are right, and that shows that the pen is mightier than the sword. If we said mightier, we do not focus only on wars and killings, it means in can do anything and many things. Like a pen can heal a person if the doctor will write a prescription, can the doctor do it with a sword? So which of them is mightier now on that situation? Another example, the elders write a law about not using swords in the future, who is mightier now? Were you can use a pen freely in the future but the sword cannot be used. Thank you. Cheers, happy mylotting.

It depend with the situation. Swords can kill instantly but the pen will let you live longer but it keeps on tearing your heart and conscience little by little and that would be much more painful...right.

You are right about that, and addition to that, the sword can only be used and can be mighty with wars, but the pen can be used at almost anything, even the planning of the future. Still the pen is mightier than the sword.

Yes I do agree with you. The power of the pen, just like the power of the spoken holds tremendous power which is not to be underestimated. The pen can cause emotional pain that can create life long scars. One should be careful of what one writes because once written it is there forever along with its repercussions and consequences. The pen can cut so much deeper than the sword ever could. The pen can assist toward healing too. The simple act of writing in a diary every day has healed many out of despair.

Hi rjvb, lets correlate the objects to things in contemporary times. :) Imagine my humble mouse, and my humble keyboard pitched against the nuclear bomb! Naah. I don't think it makes any sense, does it? Especially if some inflammatory speech can be made without using either your pen, or my keyboard. :) I think hunger is mightiest of them all. As long as people are hungry, they can be incited easily, and chances of them taking irrational decisions such as opting for wars and nuclear destruction are more. Got my point?

Even when done in the name of peace, honor, goodness the sword can only be weilded by one born to it or trained to it. Otherwise its effectiveness is lost. The pen can be weilded by anyone with a thought, a hope, a value, a song to express..The pen can lift one to the heavens or cast him out. It can free or imprison both its user and target. It is the strength of numbers because anyone, anytime, anywhere, for any reason can use it or abuse it and do greatness or harm. Enjoy!

I agree with you, a pen can be wielded by anyone, but not sword, before a person will be allowed to handle a sword, he must first do a lot of training in order for it, not to hurt himself. A pen can be wielded even by a child. A sword cannot. And you are right also that in depends on the person if he/she will abuse it or not. A pen can write a law about, not using sword in the future, but sword cannot, beside we cannot use them if it is a law written by the pen.

that is true.a pen along with a paper can even make the strongest bond and even the greatest enemity. If a particular condition put forward in some piece of paper and if there is a person of great power who has signed on it approving it,then no matter how powerful the person is or not but once signed it cannot be taken back or reconsidered unless there is a certain validity in the agreement.and if there isnt any validity the man's stuck with it

I definitely agree with you. A pen is mightier than the sword. Just like what you've said, it can start a great alliance and it can start a great war or even world war. A pen can write the formula of creating a nuclear bomb. A pen ca write the formula for the plutonium and uranium that is used in creating nuclear bombs. But a sword cannot do that. The pen is already a legend. The pen with the sword has been used by the people in the past, thousand of years ago, until now it still being used by most of the people, except fir the sword. Very few are still using a sword at present. O men i am sleepy, i am tired, i've don a lot of work, i repair my 2 pc and i reconstructed my website damn. anyway thank you so much for the response.

I just thought of asking this question.i guess you read my mind.ITs just amazing what a pen can do so for sure pen has the upper hand when it comes to mightiness.its mightier than the sword for too many reasons.a pen kill much faster than the sword in many situations so i go for the pen not the sword.so many have found it to be a deadly weapon.so my point heads to pen..cheers

Cheers my friend, you are right about that, a pen is mighty in many ways, but the sword can only be mighty in killing. A pen can write a peace treaty and sword cannot. A pen can be used to write medications, but a sword cannot. A pen can be used to educate and research about things in this world that is needed to be discovered, a sword cannot. Pen is mightier than a sword.

I completely agree!! Its actually the pen who initiates be it an argument or a settlement, a dispute or a war. Even if turn over the pages of history, in old days as well it was the pen, the message which was sent to enemies to have these sword wars etc. Its your pen and not the sword who has taken you so far, sword cannot teach you anything and pen can teach you all. There is a very famous saying "Ink of scholar is holier than the blood of martyr". Its pen that rules the world.

You are right, very rule, law and lessons that is written by the pen will be transferred until the future and further future, it dictates the law the all people will follow. It writes the past that gives knowledge to the newly born on how things was done. It writes the lessons needed by the new born to survive the future.

O yes it is 50 50 in terms of war, but if we will talk about different aspects in life, i guess pen is still mightier than a sword. We people can write a law with a pen that millions of people will follow, but we cannot do it with a sword. Thank you so much for your response, Cheers, o men i cannot even think anymore i am very tired and sleepy.
