How is it like to sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of money?

it feels horrible, i have done it so many times. There was one time where I had money to give to friend instead of doing that i bought myself something and ate it! I enjoy giving money to charity and friends that brings joy to my heart, and if i dont those things i feel so bad cant even describe it
