Came across this saying somewhere,
We must study science and maths, so that our children can study history and geography,
so that their children can study music and arts.
What do you have to say about the above quote?

They dont get it. The qoute does not use the word 'should' anywhere. Also, to get quote the way we do, one should beleive that music and arts is superior to history and geography and history and philosophy superior to science and maths. What say?

Should i re frame the quote, as people are misreading it.
It necessarily does not mean that music and arts are superior.
What it tries to communicate is that the luxury to pursue any branch should be there. Why science and maths as initial choice, because the burgeoning population and quest for productivity makes it essential that we take of our basic needs. Basic needs are met by science and maths. Technological, industrially developed nations can afford great artists, as well as there markets can support them.
Any nation has to have prosperity so that it allows liberty in all senses for all branches. The history is less distorted and studied properly in conducive environment.
Let there be space and room for all kinds of talent.

I never encountered such saying in my entire life. Where did you heard about it? From a third world country? In my own understanding the parents can't study all subjects because of lack of money or due to financial constraints. And this will go on with their children towards the children of their children. That's only my own understanding of it.
