Hello mylotters. Before you pass up this discussion it is not about politics at all. My grandson is 11 years old and he just recently got accepted into the Beta Club in his school. For those of you that don't know what the Beta Club is, it is an academic club within the middle schools. He is a very smart boy. Last week he went to his first meeting and they needed to elect officers for the club. He was elected to run for vice president. Well he called me last night and told me that he won for vice president of his club. He was very excited and so was mamaw. I got so excited about it that I had to go to the potty..LOL.. Just wanted to share some of the family good news.

Thank you for doing me a favor. You know what my son, 9 years old (diagnosed for having mild autism) who is in his first year (grade one) on the mainstream program (from being into the Special Education Program) is also the Vice President of their class. His teacher gave us the feedback that he is really doing his job especially during his schedule for being the class monitor. He needs to make sure that there is order inside the classroom and he needs to lead his classmates for any activities. so what's up for the weekend Rose?

Wow, congratulations to your grandson. He might have a very bright future ahead. I sure enjoy being a grandma although our grandkids are young so they aren't school age yet. Am sure it's even more exciting to have a grandchild that excels in school. I was always so proud of our kids and can't wait until the grandkids are school age and are involved in various school functions.

What makes this so special is that he has always been a shy child. He lived with his dad for about three years. This past Feb. He moved in with his mom. He had to change schools. At first he wasn't doing real good with his grades. Then he slowly started bringing the grades up. Then this year he has really showed such an improvement. I am beyond proud of him. Thanks for your kind words. Have a nice day and keep smiling my friend.

Congratulations to your grand son! I never won anything like that though the clubs I was in I never wanted to be a leader! Mamaw, I suppose is you? Mamaw generally means grandmother... so that's why I assumed.

When my husband and I have children, I'll know where they got their smarts when it comes to math. I do not like math, and can not do more then simple addition, subtraction and a bit of multiplication. I am great at English EXCEPT grammar.

Yeah me either..I was one of slower learners when I was school. So he didn't get his smartness from me at all..LOL.. I think that he doing this to show that he is a smart kid and can do anything he puts him mind to. I will always make him feel important. Thanks for your thoughts. Keep smiling my friend.

Good for your grandson he has a right to be excited and needs to celebrate. It helps when you get older and have different club and activities when you are looking for a job.

That is exciting news for him and I am sure it makes you proud. Does he have very many duties? How often do they meet. Student government sometimes is in charge of planning socials and dances, or also public service type things.

I don't know too much about it at all. I know he said they meet once a week for meetings. Then I think today they was having some kind of special thanks. Something like a pizza deal. As you gets into I will know more. I will be glad to share with you. Thanks for your thoughts and have a nice day. Keep Smiling.

That is very good news. They do not do things like that here so i am so glad you explained what it was.It gives a child a great incentive into achivements and then they seem to find another goal to reach for. That is great,i bet you are really proud.

That is great news. I am happy that he is doing so well in school. If he continues to do well he may be able to succeed anywhere. I wish him the very best of luck in school and in life. I know whatever he decides to become when he is an adult he will do well. With him being a leader he can accomplish so much.

Whoo Hoo. Beta Club is great. They did not have it in middle school when I was there but was a member in high school. Beta used to be a community service club but now a days all kids at least around here are expected to do a certain number of community service hours to graduate. Hope he has a great time and enjoys his club meetings. Tell him to keep up the good work with his grades.
