Kazpersky is the best antivirus, so far. Also, Eset's NOD 32 is as good as Kazpersky They're both strong, and are able to detect what other antiviruses softwares don't. Like when I scanned my USB in my own PC using AVG, it didn't detect anything. Then when I used the USB in Kodak to print some pictures, their computer's antivirus, Kazpersky, detected many viruses in my USB.

I use avast! and not only is it free for personal use, but it's updated daily automatically in the background and it never slows down my computer except for a slight difference in speed when it's installing the new virus definitions. This process only lasts for a minute, maybe two minutes maximum, so it's wonderful. I've tried so many different flavors of anti-virus software and most of them tend to be very resource intensive, which is what causes your computer to slow down. Give avast! a try and see what you think!

So i am the only one here who does not use an Anti virus. I use Deep Freeze Faronics but its not an anti virus. I kind of think of it as a VACCINE

i also have avast home edition which is free. i have been using this anti-virus program for more than a year now. i had it with my previous office desktop and now, with my netbook. it is free and it works better than my previous anti-virus program. with my new office desktop, i have a licensed kaspersky, financed by the agency.

Hello raiyandhaka. In my computer im currently using avast. Its a nice antivirus. I recommend it to anyone because its good also it is free. In my opinion its the best free antivirus out there. If you are willing to pay for the antivirus, you could buy kaspersky, nod32. Or you can also install Linux and dont need to worry at all with the antivirus. Im not really into linux so i dont use it, but my brother does and he always promotes linux to us(his siblings) saying stuff like that and that windows is junk. Linux is free also by the way.

i'm agreed, avast one of greatest anti virus and can't affect our pc and net speed. i prefer also that to install avast on my pc, free home edition. as a home user i don't prefer to spend money to buy something like kaspersky, nod32, linux. may be later i will try to buy, when i will able to over come my financial crisis.

Hello rainyandhaka,
You are true that an antivirus protection is needed for a PC with Internet Connection. It is advisable to use different security solutions for your PC instead of using a complete package of INTERNET Security .
I have installed Avast Antivirus with home release license For my PC which is free but You could also try AVG 8.5 free but it may slow your PC. Also I have Installed Comodo Firewall Plus for firewall solution for my Internet Connection and Spyware Doctor and spybot search and destroy to counter with spyware.
The combination of these security softwares make my PC Completely Secure at no cost.
Good Luck,
Happy Mylotting.

I have Avast 4.8 Home Editioan installed in my laptop and I don't think that it make computer slow. For local (Indonesian)virus I have Smadav 2009 7.3 installed too. Smadav is good enough.Although there is a tip not to install more than one antivirus in PC, my laptop is running OK

I use AVG 8, the free version. Plus I have CC cleaner & anti malware.
There are some anti virus programs I dont like, for the same rason as you; they slow down the computer & even stop some genuine sites from being viewed.

Hi raiyandhaka,
Well, I am using Nod32 Eset Smart Security since last couple of years and let me tell you that till date i never experienced any problem while using it.I think it's the best antivirus if you have less RAM (say 512MB-1GB). And if you have more RAM then I would suggest you go for Kaspersky Internet security.

hi raiyandhaka....
maybe most of the antivirus available for free are not that effective...so maybe you should buy the premium antivirus that are available in the market...

you are not right at all, free but off course effective. but again free software are customize its advance option license. its better to buy a license software to enjoy full option, function and facility. not only anti virus, all free soft are customize by license due to business issue of its owner.

Well i was using NOD 32 on my home PC and it works great. Now i bought a new Laptop and i got new registered version of Kaspersky Anti virus on it. It is also doing gr8. You should check your other settings and configurations also to boost up your PC. Maybe something else is creating problem there and you are associating it with your anti virus.

hi raiyandhaka hi again. I have AVG 9 on my computer and set it to scan while I am at dinner so its slowness does not bother me at all. bye the time I come back here its already done its thing.I really like it as I have never ever had a virus.if it finds one its immediately put in the vault where it can do no harm. my avg also protects against spyware and malwear too.

I wouldn't be without my anti-virus software. My son let his expire for just a few days and ended up with 2 trojans on his computer. I use McAfee and I think it's one of the best. It does slow down my computer but only when it is doing a scan or downloading updates. Other than that, it seems to run seamlessly in the background. I think my next laptop is going to be a Mac so virus software won't be as critical, but for PC's, I think it's a necessity.

NO i don't really care about viruses , i handle them pretty easily. You have to be just careful while downloading anything from net especially free stuff.Just check what you have downloaded has correct size and is not .exe(if you have downloaded pics, docs etc)
