acetaminophen makes me go to sleep

I can't take tylenol or anything else that contains acetaminophen without knocking out 10-15 minutes later. I always considered that to be an allergy, but everybody I talk to says I'm not allergic, I am just sensitive to it. I still try to avoid taking anything with acetaminophen as the main ingredient which is hard because most cold meds that work contain that. Any suggestions?
