I shouldn't have eaten that. Should you?

My dad came by a few minutes ago to my apartment. It's pretty close to 11pm right now. He was on his way home from dropping my mom off at the home of one of her cousins. Her cousin had surgery, and both my parents stayed at the hospital during it today. My mom is staying there, a couple of hours away from here until Thanksgiving. He brought me a small gingerbread house my Nana sent home with him (she was at said cousin's surgery as well and gave it to my dad to give to me). So I ate a little bit of it a few minutes ago. But even a little bit was too much. I now have indigestion. No problem, I can fix that. But still, I've got a yuck feeling in my stomach, even if it tasted good going down.
How often do you eat something and regret it soon after? Is it because it makes you feel like you were overeating? Or that you knew it was something that would give you heartburn? I rarely get indigestion or heartburn, so maybe I'm paying for that right now.
On a side note, my dad came by also to take my dog Sherlock home with him. I'm not going to get into it, but my back has reached a crisis point. Anyway, he was so sweet to take him home with him. Sherlock gets more exercise over there anyway, but even though my dad is the "tough guy", he loves my dog! As soon as Sherlock saw him he almost jumped out of my arms in an effort to get to him.

I hope the surgery for your cousin went well. At the moment I'm more concerned about you. It doesn't sound right that your back is hurting more and more, instead of less as you heal. Have you talked to your doctor? What was said?
Extreme pain can and frequently does affect our digestion. Even small amount of food that you would normally not have a problem with can cause upset. Just after my shoulder surgery a couple of years ago I went through not being able to eat much. I craved (of all things) cream of celery soup, so that's what I lived on for a few days until the pain dimished. Is there anything you've been craving? That's what you should eat.

At 11 pm something with sugar or fat is sure to give me heartburn, but I forget from time to time and end up doing it anyway. It sounds like your dad knew just what you needed in regards to Sherlock.

My stomach is not that sensitive when it comes to food... but there was this one time when i ate a Panini sandwich... it has mayonaise... and i think that caused my stomach to be upset... i had to go to the nearest bathroom just so i can relieve myself... needless to say... i never went back to the restaurant where i bought the Panini...

I have done a similar thing once when I happened to be home alone with a craving for Nutellla spread. I had a rather large jar in my pantry and I decided to get into my old comfy clothes sit in front of the TV with my cat and my lovely jar of Nutella. I put a little on a paper napkin and the cat enjoyed but after a couple of ‘serves’ he decided to give it a miss and go back to the cat biscuits. Well I got stuck into the jar and spooned it straight out minus the bread until I felt quite ill with severe heartburn and diarrhoea. To this day I can only consume very little Nutella without feeling nauseous!

Oh I did miss him. I kept forgetting he wasn't with me, so I wouldn't sit on one side of the sofa because I thought he was under the blanket. I was trying not to sit on him and he wasn't even there!
My dad is keeping him again tonight. I went over there today and it was just me and Sherlock. When my dad came home he told me to just keep Sherlock with him since I still can't bend over, and I have headache tonight as well.

You have got me confused, dear Ambie...as I am wondering whether the gingerbread, at all, was the catalyst? Ginger is the supreme calmative for stomach disruptions of any form, they now make GINGER Gravol in a jell. Ginger ale, de-effervescented for "icky" stomachs. Could it have been your pain meds?
And now, the important question...WHAT, dear girl...is happening with that back of yours...shud you not be on the road to mending now? Have you had a setback...trying to do too much!
I am so thankful you have your parents/family close by...and knowing your little "friend in a fur coat" loves his visits with grandpa! Now you have me worried as to what is going on with you?????? Please, please take care...and keep posting, so we know that you are (hopefully) on the road to recovery! HUGZ,Ambie...and Cheers!

I think it was the ingredients of the decorations on the gingerbread house that gave me indigestion. I tasted more than ginger, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Strange though, I had some more this morning and no indigestion at all.
As for my back...my hands are pretty much tied. I was told I need to go to the ER, but I was also told I wasn't allowed to go to the ER. Sound complicated? Yes, and I was in tears yesterday. Last week I almost fell down the stairs because a bolt of pain caught me so off guard I started to pitch forward. If someone hadn't grabbed my arm from behind, I would have fallen. But yesterday things hit a new low.

I love the food.....and usually it doesn't upset me like it did...but I overate as they ordered one of the fried ice creams for dessert and it was so big six people could have eaten it!

Hello AmbiePam. Sometimes I also feel heartburn after eating something that does not match my stomach. It is a bad feeling though. In this kind of case, I will take some medicine for my stomach or try to drink a glass of hot water...

I get heartburn all the time. There are lots of foods that I know I should not eat because it is going to come back and haunt me, but I eat them anyway and suffer later.
I really hope your feeling better by know. The indigestion and your back. It was nice of your dad to take Sherlock while you are not doing well.

Yeah I only usually regret it if I like you start having tummy troubles. And of course if it's too late @ night & you know you are not hungry but tempted KWIM? Or fall into temptation's lure.... Double Fudge Brownie ice cream I have in my fridge is my problem right now. It's devine! But if I don't eat it the kids will & if I eat it in front of them it'll be gone & I'll have maybe a spoonful. So I was guilty last night of endulging when I got home from work while everyone else was asleep.

I've had a few times where I overate, or there were times something tasted good going down but didn't after I ate it. Luckily, my FIL drinks ginger ale so we always have that for when my tummy gets upset! I am sorry your still in pain! Maybe you should go see your doc about it?
