It depends on the friend. One of my best friends is not a touchy feely person so I don't hug her except on really special occasions. We usually just smile, hi, etc. Now, my other best friend is just the opposite. We always greet each other with huge smiles and a hug...but we do live an hour away and go to different colleges so its hard to get time to see each other. Others I usually do the smile and Hey! Whats up? thing. lol

It depends on how close the friend is. Some really good friends, I will hug or embrace when I see them. There is a certain level of familiarity for that greeting. Other friends I just touch on the arm or shake hands. Thats a safe greeting that says, I know you and am comfortable around you. Then some friends are more like good aquaintences. Those people I limit to handshakes or just verbal greetings. So, I think it just depends on the level of friendship that is felt between you and the other person.

I greet my friends by saying hi and then a high 5. And i greet some of my friends by giving a knuckle touch. I don't usually greet my friends by hugging or kissing. Where i live its normally saying hi.. i see most people here doing that.
