Yes it can be true. It is not a joke. India definitely would become one of the three largest economies by 2050. Given its present GDP growth rate of 6.19% India will grow most rapidly among the G-20 nations and by 2050 it will be 97% as large as the US economy in terms of Purchasing Power Parity. India's GDP is expected to increase 16 times from 1.1 trillion $ to 17.6 trillion $.

You really cannot predict the thing that is going to happen in 2050 and it would be wise if we discuss about the things that is going to happen in the near future. May be the maximum prediction at this point of time could be only upto 2020 and nothing more than that. According to me, even in 2020 US may be the leading economy in the country and China may give a very good competition for US. Although I am an Indian and proud about my country, but I would still say that China has a better economy than us as of now and that is the truth.

Hey.. that was a reall gud optimistic approach. But it all depends how we project ourselves and how the goverment regulates the country. Currently the factor called population ruins the country. Its time to start thinking on the same and put a curb on ruining factors for the development.
