Mylot with a virus???

For the past few days everytime I get onto mylot it will allow me to read a few discussions but after a few minutes it kicks me off and tells me that it has encountered a trojan and needs to be cleaned. I have checked with my virus protection program and it doesn't show anything and I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem. This is the only site that seems to be doing this for me, and so far only when I am under firefox. Any ideas??

That's the second time I haveheard this today!
Earlier a friend here was saying exactly the same thing and that to get rid of it, theonly thing to was to log out.
I will try and see if they will come here and see if you are both getting the same thing

be careful fjaril that thing you are talking about could be a virus as my AVG deemed something similar was a virus and put it in the virus vault.

that whole thing is a scam from software trying to trick you into buying it right away. mylot does not have a virus. I have been on here all day and with no problem. I also have firefox,it loads a bit slow today but thats okay it is wo rking and no virus.

I've never had a virus while on myLot. I do use aol's browser when I am home. Right now I am at our daughter's house and they use IE. You might try using a different browser and see what happens. I have Norton anti-virus program and nothing ever pops up to indicate myLot has any problem or my computer.

I have been working under Internet Explorer for the past few days and it hasn't done it yet so I am now starting to think it might of had something to do with Firefox..I have never had a problem with either mylot or firefox but I guess it can still happen. Thanks for your response neildc

Is your security a good one? I had a virus that wrapped itself around many of my files and caused me ALOT of problems. I got with my internet provider and they helped and I thought I had gotten rid of it only to find out I hadn't. My internet providers security wasn't enough. I had to go get a different one completely plus a sweeper. The tech spent a long time getting rid of all the crap. I have ridded myself of the other security and use this one primarily. What I am saying is that the one you have may not be doing all the good you think it is/should.

The virus programs i use has always been a good one...we bought a few years back and uploaded it to both my husbands desk top as well as my laptop. I also have McAfee that came with the laptop. I did a few different scans and nothing appeared so i am not quite sure that if it is a virus or not. I would think if it was a virus that it would come through with both firefox and internet explorer althoug I could be worng because I am not very computer savvy on viruses LOL Thanks for your response celticeagle.

I would think you are right. I think that if you have a virus it is going to go into any applications you have unless it is driven to only do certain things.

You should always be careful what sites you go to and visit, I don't think mylot is one that you have to worry about too much but any site can get hacked into that is why you still need good virus protection.
My sister in law uses Avira and seems to like it pretty well...I am glad to hear it is working well for you. Thanks for your response may2k8

I have never had any problems either with mylot thats why I was a bit shocked when it started last night and then into today as well. I have both firefox and IE and i like firefox much better so I am hoping that I can get the problem cleared up soon so i can get back to using it. I have done a few different virus scans and nothing has come up so I am not sure why it keeps telling me that I have a virus. Thanks for your response jugsjugs.

Ughhh... really? .. I was so disturbed by it... I mean, I hope it ain't true because, I just had my old notebook re-installed and I am currently using a new laptop. I got some spyware and virus a week ago from watching a boxing match and downloading some kind of video tool bar. I just hope it will be fixed soon. But, as of now I am not experiencing any of that...I have AVG too and it doesn't say any virus or trojan.
Happy lotting!

This is not a problem with mylot. This is a problem with your computer. You need to buy a virus cleaner, such as norton antivirus. An alternative solution would be to download free virus protection, such as AVG virus scanner.

I am currently running two different virus cleaners as it is now. I don't think that it is mylot I think it is somethign that is attached to mylot for the time being. I have never had anyting like this happen before with mylot but that doesn't mean it can't ever happen especially with as many members come and go on here hackers can get into anything.
