if i use a spoon for coffee, i will leave the spoon to the side of the plate and serve the coffee. the same thing for the tea. maybe they would like to stir their coffee or the tea before they will make a sip.

If I am making tea and coffee for my friends, I will use a different spoon, but if it is for myself at usual time, I don't care using the same one.

I normally hand each guest a spoon of their own; then place a spoon in the sugar bowl and another near the powdered creamer. It doesn't take anything to throw another spoon into the dishwasher at the end. I always put sugar and creamer in, but then want to taste to make sure that I have the correct amount in. I don't want a wet spoon put back into the sugar bowl, so it's just easier to have more than one spoon out.

Here we drink coffee or hot cocoa, the tea we drink is iced (sweet) tea. We don't use a spoon for this type of tea. The hot cocoa is generally at night, or if it's in the morning we drink it instead of coffee. To be honest we don't drink that much coffee either way so it doesn't matter. Though if we were to drink both coffee and hot cocoa or hot tea, we'd rinse the spoon off most likely if it's only a few minutes apart.

I would also use different spoons. Its okay to rinse off the spoon so as to mix in the other drink but I think it would be wise to put in another spoon in the other drink. That is because maybe the one who will drink it would also prefer to add in sugar or cream or honey, depending upon their own personal preference. So putting in a spoon for each of the cups would be the best way to go about it.
That's just me anyways.^_^

oh my of course change or wash the spoon, you can't just use them interchangeably! that is not good, will cross contaminate the flavors upon tranfer.

Hi jugs, as a coffee lover, I dislike to taste my favorite drink mixed with other taste of beverages. Even a wee taste of foreign drink will make the original taste faded totally. Therefore I never use the same spoon to scoop or to stir tea and coffee. When entertain friends I will prepare different beverage with different teaspoon. Moreover it's quite easy to rinse and wipe the spoon after using
I have a dozen of teaspoons in my kitchen, therefore it's totally not a problem to use different spoon to prepare tea and coffee at the same time. Some of friends are picky when drinking tea and coffee. They surely will complain if knowing that the beverage with foreign taste. I will blush and feel embarrassed if entertain friends in this impolite way
Happy posting

You wouldn't be able to taste tea in coffee, but definitely taste the coffee in the tea. In fact, coffee leaves such a strong flavor on things, I can always tell if the (restaurant) hot water caraffe had coffee in it before, even though it had been washed.

I have never made both. I suppose I would use different spoon or I would think it would taste funny. My friends normally drink coffee and it is made in the coffeemaker so I have no worries about using the same spoon. I think my friends like either but we usually have coffee.

I guess you are referring to instant tea or coffee. I don't use either and I always serve either drink with a spoon for each guest. If I were making instant I would use a seperate spoon for each so that no hint of either flavor could ruin the drinks.

We don't really drink a lot of hot tea, as far as tea we usually drink sweet iced tea. However, with coffee, we will all use the same spoon as we are usually all making our cups of coffee at roughly the same time. That helps a lot to cut down the dishes and we really aren't contaminating anything by using the same spoon in multiple cups of coffee. Both my husband and I use the same things to flavor our coffee as well so we aren't getting different tastes into our cups.

I would use a different spoon for each, I have plenty of spoons. It seems kind of strange to me that they would do this.

When I make coffee, tea, or any other kind of food, I use individual spoons for everything. My sister is a vegetarian, so I have learned to use different spoons for the meat dishes than I do for the veggie dishes, so she will not ingest a trace of meat juice, or any other meat product.
I carry this belief over into all foods. Each food shall have its own spoon, so that the food will not be tainted by another type of food.

I never use the same spoon for tea and coffee. Though nothing remains in the spoon to mingle, still the flavour will be there in the spoon till you wash it. So I use different spoons for coffee and tea. Let our guests enjoy pure fragrance of coffee and tea is it not?

It would have to be separate spoons, because I too don't like the taste of coffee in my tea. It doesn't go at all and if I feel that way someone else might too.

I always use another spoon for coffee and another spoon for tea, i don't rinse the spoon because i use two spoons for the two different drinks so that my friends won't taste the coffee in their tea and tea in their coffee.

Hi JJ,
I use different tea spoon for both. I think it's just proper that we use two different tea spoon in mixing our coffee and tea. It's a lot easier than for you to rinse it and mix the other one. it's is also good to have your own tea spoon just in case you want to add on something for your tea or coffee you will not be stressed to ask for one.
