Have you noticed that there are alot of films being repeated?

In the UK the channel ITV1 shows late night movies on a Saturday night/ Sunday morning. Fantastic for someone like me who can never get to sleep, but not when it's repeats. A good example is I once watched a film, it was great but I can't remember the name, then six weeks later it was shown again and then it was shown on a Friday night/Saturday moring two weeks later. Sorry but this is just stupidity on the side of the TV planners and you'd think that if they want to keep viewers happy then they would have a good stock of movies that they could saw without the need to repeat them constantly. I don't mind seeing a film more then once if it is one that I have really enjoyed but just not within six months

Our cable provider also do the same, they keep reapeating movies to show although they know it have many movies that are just in the closet and never been shown. About seeing the film , it depends on the story and the celebrity who starred at it , i watch the film all over again if my favorite actor and actress are there. And if the movie have a scene that is unforgetable , when it shown on cable I watch it again. Sometimes I get used to repeating movies.

I notice that alot on tv!! Here in Australia, channel 9/win on free to air is always showing the Harry Potter movines on a Saturday night...1 each week until they are through...They do it every time a new Harry Potter is due out in the cinemas but on top of that, they seem to put them on twice a year...I don't mind with that because I love the Harry Potter movies...Now that we have freeview (the extra channels on hdtv free to air), I have noticed that they are showing older shows like on Go/99, they show the Partridge Family mon-fri at lunch time & in the evenings, it's I dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, the Flintstones & the Jetsons.

I actually appreciate that cable and sky and these other systems do it this way. I have a favorite television show on Tuesday evenings. I don't get to see some of it because of family issues and responsibilities. So I am very thankful that they show it again right after that. Also, the movie they have one several times I like also becuase having it on several different times gives everyone an opportunity to see it. If I like a movie I enjoy seeing it several times.

yes today there are many repeat telecasts by the channels. Its not only about the movies but also for the daily soaps. The Channels may not invest in every movie but they would likely invest in good selected movies so that the spectators would be happy to watch it more than once. Good Luck, Happy Mylotting.

If i have just seen it lately, i would not want to watch it again, Good movies are worth watching again but after a month or so.

There are some movies that I love and that I am quite happy to see again and again and again, even back to back, if they are really good. My husband and I are pleased with the film repeats on TV, because the first time the film might be on might not be convenient for us, because we may be watching something else, or doing something else, so we will happily catch it at a later showing.

I watch the remakes but most of the time the original IS the best

I'm quite happy to watch a film again (after a few years). Quite often films are repeated at different times on Freeview so that different people can watch them as not everyone has enough recorders to record everything at the one time. Also channels like Film 4 buy a monthly licence for the films they show, so that they can show it anytime during that month (helps to keep there costs down), enabling them to bring more films in the long run.

I have noticed this many times, and I must say, it is EXTREMELY annoying. In my household, we have Virgin Media, complete with a range of different movie channels including SkyMovies. Personally, they are the worts culprits for repeating film showings over and over and OVER again. And what's frustrating is that the films they repeat are the sorts of films many people went to the cinema to watch or purchased the DVD of said film. Recently, the lucky film of the month was The Dark Knight. Yes, I admit that this is a brilliant film, and one that I wouldn't mind watching again, yet when it's the ONLY film being shown day in, day out, and is a film so critically acclaimed that many went to the cinema to enjoy and probably picked up the DVD upon release, it does get slightly stale on its fourth or even fifth showing of the day. You'd think that with all the films available, television companies would have absolutely no need to repeat and recycle the same old movies. However, they do. This is something that I will never understand and unfortunately, cannot imagine changing in the near future.

I have noticed that too. I do not like to movie more than once except for Christmas movies. I only see Christmas movies once a year and that is between Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. My husband and I watch at least one Christmas thing per night. I can't wait to see my favorite Christmas movies.

I think it's normal. They were repeating movies because not all viewers have watched the movie that they were playing all the time. The best part of it, they want to earn more from their subscribers.

Yes nowadays there are lot of Films whose stories are Just Copied or similar to any previous movies,So I Don't think nowadays Films Deserves to be get Rated. Many a Films like Don(Sharukhkhan) of Bollywood movie which was the sequel or copy of Previous Don(Amitabh Bachan). S0 You are Absolutely right there are lot of Films Being Repeated.

While sometimes that is true, there are movies out there that I enjoy watching more than once. This is the reason for purchasing DVD's. If no one wanted to watch a movie more than once, there would be no reason to put a movie onto DVD or blueray. Tonight, we sent the kids to the Redbox to get a movie. I let them get two, and one of those was called "Taking Chance". We were talking about the movie and our daughter, her boyfriend nor her best friend had seen the movie. So we had them get it. After we'd watched it, both of the young men commented that they needed to find it and purchase it for their DVD libraries at home. Now, there are films that I see one time and don't care to ever watch again!

It is annoying. But I guess it is what the networks pay for. So they have to play them a certain number of times.

i notice it a lot more on free/normal tv, they just don't seem to put on any of the newer movies that are out. then you also have them wanting to remake movies, i did hear they were trying to do the sound of music. which i don't think should be done.

Yes, I agree. When you watch T.V. much frequently you will notice that they have many repeats. I know that I have seen many reruns over and over again. Especially, with the show of Angel and Charmed..

Its the practice to repeat films. There have been many movies made and there are cable channels that show movies with no commercials. So sometimes they add in new movie releases and show it on tv for the first time. After that its being repeated because there are still many people who have not been able to watch those shows because of lack of free time or something but they wanna watch it still. So the cable channels repeat shows/movies time to time so that they have something to fill in airtime and give the chance to other people so that they could watch it without having to spend on renting it or something like that. When I have watched something I also do not watch it again unless its a really good movie that I dont mind watching it over and over. Sometimes there arent any other good movies too watch so even if I have watched the old movie, I watch it again.

I noticed that too with the repeats. I am like you once I have seen a movie I don't really need to see it again. There are some movies the really good movies that I will watch over again, like my favorites. However, there are alot of movies I just don't need to see again. So I wonder why they keep repeating and repeating.
