People can't accept frankness?

Why is it that some people could not accept frankness or total honesty of one person? I tried to be as honest as I could and told them exactly how I feel. I just do not like going around the bush. Now, it seems that I am at fault. I really do not understand why?

Hi..Jules I am also sailing in the same boat. We will be very frank, honest and sincere to the people thinking that they are also like that. But they will hide many things from us and they are not at all frank. One fine day we will come to know that, we were trusting the cheaters and by that time it will be too late. I feel these people are not human beings. Any way I am trying to forget all these episodes and will be more cautious in future

They may be good or bad. They may not be as frank as we are but let us not change ourselves for their sake. Let us remain frank to ourselves and others all the time.

Actually, what prompted me to do this post is that the people around me sort of suggested that it is better to be frank and honest in what I say and feel. That was actually what I did. But then, surprisingly, they could not take it.

Because they are easily offended to accept any remarks which greatly reveal their own real personality it could be an insult to them as some are pretty protective of their privacy and do dot like to indulge in a lot of revealing conversation. Though, being honest is a remarkable qualities it really irritates other people as sometimes when you do not like to carry a good conversation you are likely to hit a soft nerves which they may turn embarrass with the things you said.

In some cases it is right but mostly people are born liers. Selfish and greedy people will never be frank.

Frankness, could be sometimes irritating but I would still prefer it than someone who keeps on praising you and say otherwise behind your back.

Honesty is a rare quality. Don't be disheartened. Keep your honesty.

Some people don’t like it when you present them with the truth because it means they have to face it and it is difficult for some. I’ve found that a lot of folks don’t like it when you say no either, especially if you’ve always been the type of person who was easy to manipulate; if you reach your limit and you finally say no you become the worst person on earth and all you did was express how you really feel!

That was the reason why I became frank, for me not to be manipulated anymore. The sad part is majority now is detesting my way of being totally honest.

Some people's sensibilities are hurt when things are told to them straightforwardly. It takes a lot of diplomacy and creativity with words when trying to get your point across without hurting their feelings. There is honesty and there is tactlessness. Telling another person what you feel is good if it will help your relationship with him or if it will improve some aspect in his life. However, I think a person should keep his mouth shut if he would only belittle someone even if it is how he feels at the moment.

Diplomacy is the key word. Some people will find it very difficult to accept your frankness. Speak the language that they understand better but without forgetting our mothertongue.

I guess you just have to assess people first before you make a comment. Like, trying to play it safe?
