Do you have a special weekend that you put up your Christmas tree and trimmings? We usually do it the weekend nearest the 15th December. We have done this for many years and I cannot look back and say why we started to do it on this date.
I do know though a lot of people have got the habit of putting it up on a certain day as having lived here for many years you get to know which of your neighbours put them up early which late and so on.

I usually put mine up somewhere near the beginning of December. Never anywhere in November, I think that's way to early. I also know many when my neighbors put them up either later or sooner, but I don't like to see people still having the Christmas decorations up way after Christmas. I have seen some Christmas decorations up until late march. It was astonishing to see people still haven't tooken them down yet, but then again maybe they were busy.

We have a saying in England that it is unlucky to take your trimmings down before 6th January

yesterday, my mom decorated the whole house in preparation for Christmas (because i requested for it..hehe i also think that we're the only peeps who don't have decors..) and i just bought some Christmas decors too for our office..we'll have a general cleaning and decorating tomorrow! weeee! i'm just so excited! in fact, we're the last to decorate in the whole complex..some already decorated two weeks ago immediately after halloween..that's how Christmas is spent here in our country..as early as november up to 2nd or 3rd week of january..advance Merry Christmas everyone!

Never! I get through every Christmas without using decorations! That's not to say that I don't agree with them no, it's nice to have them but I don't bother as I live alone and I have a good friend that comes over for Christmas but I don't have anyone in the way of family, we lost touch many years ago now. I know that a lot of people put up their decorations early, in November sometimes but I guess it's everyone's individual choice. There are some neighbours in the street that go above board! They put up their decorations early and they also have the whole front of the house lit up at night, must cost them a fortune in electricity! I like looking at the efforts of others though, they make their homes so nice at this time of year. Andrew

Here in England several villages get the whole street to put up lots, and I mean lots of lights outside their homes with Santa on the roof etc and people from all around, and miles away, go to see it as it is really good. This way they make money for Charity as everyone puts some money in a box when they look.
I agree though there it must cost them a fortune in electricity.
Have you thought of tracing your family on the internet

We usually do it after Thanksgiving. But since this weekend was so nice we put the outside decorations out and we'll finish in the inside stuff the weekend after Thanksgiving.

nowadays... some articles mentioned that you can start putting Christmas decorations right away when the month of "ber" comes... September, October, November, December...

Every year since I can remember we've put it up either on Thanksgiving night or the day after Thanksgiving, it all depended on how tired we were after eating Thanksgiving dinner. This year I put my decorations and tree up before Thanksgiving. I don't know why. I guess I just felt like getting in the mood a little sooner.

We used to put ours up on the first Sunday in December (unless that was 1st Dec) but I felt that was too early so we laft it till about 10th. It got gradually later as we lost enthusiasm once our sons grew up.Last year, we didnt get the tree up at all as I was working both Christmas Day & Boxing Day... not sure what we'll do this year.

I am going to put my Christmas decorations up around the week of the 15th also. If the weather isn't cooperating then, I will wait until I get a nice day to do it being I am single and will have to do it myself. I am not working this year so I will have all day long to do it and put the decorations up to my liking one day at a time. Time is of the essence for me.

My family usually starts like a month before. That means that alot of work has to be done 2 months before. I think that gives us alot of time to spend with your loved one together around the christmas tree. :)

We do it the day after Thanksgiving since we are all usually off from work and school. Then we get to enjoy it for about a month and a half. We love putting up the decorations but no one seems to volunteer to help take them down.

We have an artificial tree every year although it does look real. For years we had a real tree and it always seemed to have lost its pine leaves before Christmas yet I would still find some somewhere in the house in March.

Oh well we always put them up earlier so as to enjoy them much longer. Actually we put them up on the 27th of November, and we still have to do more decorating as I like the house to be completely festive everywhere! We'll take them down about a week after New Years Eve. One year we were so busy and completely forgot to take everything down until the end of Jan! it was quite funny really. I remember when I was in school, I had this one particular friend who's family celebrated XMAS on XMAS eve, well they even went out to buy their tree that day, decorated the home and everything and took down the tree on New Years Day. See that I find to be just weird and I think also a waste. Why wouldn't you want to enjoy the beauty of the XMAS season in your own home, early rather than late?

we love Christmas decorations and would honestly leave them up all year round if we could. We will normally put ours up the weekend after Thanksgiving. We already have our outside lights up because we have been lucky enough to have nice weather and wanted to do it before the snow started falling and it got really cold but we will not light them until this coming weekend(week after Thanksgiving) We normally light them every night and then finally take them down the weekend after New Years.

Decorations go up the weekend after Thanksgiving. The tree goes up about 2 weeks before Christmas. I do it that way because I can take advantage of my son's muscle, this is high school basketball season so this coming weekend is the only time I can use him to lift and tote. He's too busy otherwise. And then we usually have an old fashion tree trimming party with alot of extended family and friends.
