Do you ever being asked out to do the cleaning during your working hours?

I'm a sales not a clearner?But my job today is cleaning. No matter I'm busy or idle, cleaning glass is not my duty.It's very strange why my boss think we can lay our work aside and do the cleaning first.just because he is the boss, he can order us to do everything he wants. I'm not disgust of cleaning or laboring while I don't like my normal work is disturbed.But if I refuse to do the cleaning, my doss will regard me as an unqualified worker.Dear all, Do you have such experience?

I'm a sales too and I have such experience to lay our work aside and do cleaning first.One day, the boss informed us there would have an important customer to visit our factory temporarily, and my boss asked us to lay our work aside, clean and tidy our office first, though we have many things need to do, but we have to clean first, clean floor, mop the glass on the window, tidy the files etc. We don't have choices but have to do. so pls don't be annoy, just do as per the boss requirement, because he is our boss.

we have to do somthing similar when we are about to be assessed and audited. we have to make sure everything is neat and tidy, everything is cleaned and that the shelves are fully stocked and stacked properly.
even though our main duty is always to serve customers - when there are no customers to serve, this takes priority.

:-( All bosses are the same.No matter reasonable or not, we have no way to change their views.OK, in that case , keep silence and obedience is a wise decision.Though have wored for nearly four year, I'm still not accustomed to silent obedience,I know it's not good to argue with boss, I know the boss has the absolute right in a comapny, while I just can'thelp showing my disagreement attitude.

definately. i work in a large retail store and we all pull our weight in terms of cleaning. whenever we arent serving customers or doing something else specific, we are supposed to be doing general cleaning duties. and if we are asked to do them WHILE we are doing something else, we do it anyway.
and i enjoy my job and dont have a preblem with doing cleaning duties.
