The all time greatest as far as I am concerned is Kapil Dev. For the simple reason, that it was under his captincy, that India first won the limited over world cup, and became a powerful cricket playing country. Till then we were also rans. There is no doubt that Sunil Gavaskar changed the batting of India, and I do not have words to describe Sachin. But the all time great award goes to Kapil.

if we talk about captaincy then ganguly is the best captain since he showed the team how to play aggressive cricket. we have started winning more tests abroad in the last decade. also kapil dev was late in retiring which robbed a young srinath a few internatiol years of cricket.

There are many talented cricketers from our country India. I have seen two-three video clipping of Kapil Dev but none of Sunil Gavaskar. From my very childhood Sachin Tendulkar has drawn all my attention. He is a god gifted child. Highly talented and dedicated. He never loses his focuses and never come of of his track which prized him continuing for more than 20 years!!! What an achievement!! Most centuries in both Test and ODI, most runs..and so on. You cannot finish writing describing him. He has been idol of most kids and his task of carrying team spirit is simply outstandoing. Its never heard that he has issued any controversy or quarrelled with other teammates. He silently carries on and on

India has produced really great cricketers in the past and is still producing quality cricketers. I have watched some matches of Kapil Dev, but have hardly seen Sunil Gavaskar's batting. But I have watched Sachin all my life and is simply awed by his talent and dedication. Many people have talent but they lack dedication. That is one of the most important pillars of success. So, I will say Sachin has been the greatest cricketer from India. He is one of the greats of the game.

On the basis of records and stardom, it has to be Sachin.
On the basis of incredible moments and victories, it has to be Kapil particularly for the 1983 World Cup heroics which have never been repeated.
On the basis of technique and ability to play the world's best fast bowlers that too as an opener, it has to be Sunny Gavaskar.
