I read to my youngest all the time and read to my other two when they were his age. My son will bring books home from the school library a few times a week and we will sit down on the love seat after school and I will read the book to him. He likes me to read them to him quickly so he can bring it back and get another one from the library. He usually picks out cute ones, but he has picked a couple of really long ones before. The week before Thanksgiving I got to go in and read a book to his entire kindergarden class. I loved doing that.

Yes,I love to read for my younger brother and sister. They eagerly wait for me to do reading for them in the evening.I really enjoy that and I like to spend my time with them.I mostly read story books for them and I get the books mostly from the library. It is like a hobby for me now.

Hi hmkoct5, I am in a house full of my nieces and nephews for the Thanksgiving holiday and yesterday I read them 3 books (they are all under 8 years old) and it was so much fun. I love reading to little kids because they are so captivated by the pictures, my tone of voice and the book. I read a book called Pinkalicious about a little girl who ate so many pink cupcakes she turned pink. The girls loved it and wanted to read it again and again. Another was The Big Cranky Bear...which I loved, it was fun and I love doing the animal sounds as I'm reading. The last was Fancy Nancy. So funny, and cute. My nieces and nephews faces light up and they enjoy it so much that I could never see it as a chore, they make it worth every minute and it doesn't hurt that I love to read, even little kids books!

I don't have children. I'm only wee, myself...
But I know that if I did have children, reading to them would be of immense pleasure! I'd try to inspire the same love for reading, and for books, that my parents inspired in me.
And I'd definitely read some of Oscar Wilde's fairy tales.

I read to my little sister every night. Its the only way she'll go to sleep. It's so weird, because normally, I assume children get bored of hearing older people talk, i know I hated when my mom read me stories.

Ah! my son loves being read to. So I have now joined a lending library near my house. Every few days, I will get a new book and then read out the whole book to him. He will sit and listen to the story from my dad (his grand dad), from me, from my wife and then he himself will try to read it (he is nearing 4).
This will continue for a few days, then he will grow bored with it and then I will get a new book.
Cheers!

Hi, hmk. Yes, I still do read to my kids. I read five books to my son yesterday. We had fun reading them all too! I don't consider reading a chore that I have to do. I see it as something that I love doing with my children. Reading expands the mind and broadens many horizons.
