How would raise money for the federal government? No, really... how would you?

Figuring that part of our way out of the budget mess is increasing revenue, how would you do that? (Any idea accepted from "war surtax" to massive bake sale)
For those who are allergic to the idea of new income, I am including a partner discussion on where you would cut costs.
Lets go and maybe find some common ground here - - like who wouldn't buy chocolate chip cookies at the federal government's bake sale, eh?

outsource our gov't to india??
sell dc to the chinese??
give the politicians a 100% pay cut??
or every state in the union could demand independence from the US, leaving dc as the only "state" of the union....and prohibit the politicians there from coming home.
they created the mess...let them pay for it!

If the government wants to increase revenues, it should probably increase the tax base by encouraging business rather than putting policies into place that kill business. In the end, without business there would be no taxes at all. The current Government has been a bad steward of my tax dollars and do not deserve more.
