What is your internet speed?

I am really aghast at the speed of my internet connection. It is so much slow that sometimes it takes a few minutes to load even the Yahoo or Google page. If I try to open a heavy page like any newspaper or a large forum then I may have to wait for half an hour. I just cannot understand what I should do. It it really very hard to do any work with such a slow connection. The other day an online friend from West Indies told me that he gets 24MB speed per second! I was dumbfounded to learn this from him. Because when my connection is the fasted, I even do not get 24KB speed per second. Another friend from Ireland told me she gets almost 8MB/s.

My internet speed is also very slow. A friend of mine who is coputer expert told me that my computre is old one and there is no scope to increase ram . I have to buy a new computer. Because my computer is now outdated.

If your expert friend has told you that your computer is outdated, then he is right! Because an expert does not tell a lie. So, you immediately need to change your old computer. Otherwise you will not be able to enjoy myLot in full mood and in full speed. This is an age of speed. So, you just should throw out old and outdated computers.
Anyway, how is my aunty? Does she open the door quickly when you return home and push the doorbell these days? Or, she is late to open the door as usual?

my speed is ancient aol dial up, plus i have windows vista. my computer time is slower than a turtle sometimes and i have to wait forever to download or see videos. this is ok for me now.

my internet speed is at 100.0 mps, sometimes it doesn't load faster and no connection at all.

100.0 mbps? How come that your internet speed to too much fast? This is just beyond my imagination, dear! Who knows, may be you are right.

No, seriously, it's over 9000Kbps!
I think that a important matter to add there when requesting people to put up their speeds, and the fact that you're referencing your friends' speeds is that there is a difference in saying, for example, 24MB(/s) and 24Mbps.
That friend which told you that has a "24MB speed" probably meant that it has a 24Mbit connection, meaning that it can make downloads on the rounds of 2.6~3MB/s.
Same for you other friend who calls for a 8MB/s connection may actually have a 8Mbps connection, which gifts him about 900KB/s speed.
That said, I have a connection that synchs up to roughly 15Mbps. It's unstable at such speeds though and now and then loses synchronism only to reconnect at something closer to 8Mbps. Still, on peak speeds it means I download at 1.4MB/s easily and given how I was used to no more than 600KB/s, it's quite a difference since it's over the double. Whole 6GB torrents are downloaded in a pair of hours without sweat.
So, yes, I'm happy with my internet access. More than happy, however, I'd praise a bit more stability even if my speed was a bit slower since there's no absolute need for such a high download speed. Heck, I have no idea why someone would want 100Mbps or even 1Gbps (Yes, there are providers already offering this for home services). Downloads at over 10 or 100MB/s. WHY would someone want this much speed!?

Oh then! The speed does not represent the amount it appears to be? 24Mbps is not 24 Mega Byte (24 X 1024 Kilo Byte) per second? What is the difference between MBps and Mbps? Will you please elaborate a little?
