Are there any stay at home moms that have recently returned to the workforce? After several years of being home, I recently started a new job.
The first week I was exhausted. I couldn't figure out why. I ran around more at home with the kids than I did at the job, but I was just totally exhausted after the first week.
The worst part of it is that it's only a part-time job. I'm only working 4 hours a day. Did anyone else have a similar experience?

I don't have any experience like you, right now I'm working full-time without no family of my own to take care about, but I can imagine how exhausting that must be for you. When I come home from work, it's always exhausting already and to think that someone like you still need to fix dinner, take care of the kids and everything...=)
Eventhough you work 4 hours a day, yet you still have to prepare yourself just like anyone else who will be working 8-9 hours a day. I hope the exhaustion has now lessened after four months since you started this discussion. Maybe it's like when we change job, there's a time for adaptation. Maybe if we think of it as a new adventure, it'll get more exciting...=) I wish you all the best, Compumom...

Thanks for the good wishes. After 3 and a half months, I decided that it wasn't worth it so I quit my part-time job. I've decided to put my efforts into my two websites (www.tidbitsandstuff.com and www.visithudsonvalley.com).
Now that I've convinced myself working out of the house is not an option, I can concentrate my efforts on earning money in a fashion that works well with my family life. Sometimes we just have to dig a little deeper to find the right solution.

I stayed at home all summer with my son. I found that my new job (I work PT as well) is exhausting. The job I have now is much more mentally taxing and the problems that come up are way more exhausting than anything I ever did at home. Ofcourse, I am still trying to get everything done that I was doing during the summer as well. So I have less time to get the same amount of things done. I am sure that adds to being tired.

You have a point. Not only are we working, we're still cooking, cleaning and keeping up with the demands of motherhood.
No wonder we're so exhausted!
