This is the forth time I tried to post my discussion and it frustrates me...
third time I posted it I was logged off and I was not aware of it durrrr anyways
I am tired of typing so much so hopefully this would be clear enough for someone to be able to assist me with this issue, it'd be very helpful.
Already have cable
PC is connected through the modem and router because I need wireless connection for my laptop (Tenda)
Computer is slow and at times does not have internet connection (before I got a laptop) and now that I have one, the P.C is currently not connected to the internet but my laptop is and YES the cable connections are all well put in its proper place.
I was told when you turn on your computer, it reaches this black screen with white letters, numbers, codes on it...to press F10 and to follow the steps for restoring your computer.
As far as files that did not come with a Cd IT WILL automatically restore its self since it came witht he software of windows xp already, correct?
So what kind of files do I need to transfer onto my flashdrive or laptop before I put it back into the computer??
Anyone can help me fix this step by step writen assitance please??

I've got XP and I've never had a problem with it. XP has a system restore program of its own in your system tools menu.

Yes I have looked at it, it asked me to choose the previous state of the system and it did not have the date where I bought the newest norton software over the net because it was too far back so I didn't not restore that way.
I am trying to restore with F10 but I'm trying to find out whether the two cds that I have are the actual backup files for this pc or not...

Ouch! One thing to be aware of is that if you have a password for any of the users (including yourself), the restore might hide all of your files for that user. That is what bite me in the rear when I had to do a restore a few months ago. It took me forever to find the hidden folder (you have to transfer ownership of them on the new owner file that the restore creates), and even now some programs still do not work right. If you can get at any files under a password protected user, you may want to move them now before doing the restore. Good luck.

Restoring a computer's hard drive can be very stressful and time consuming. First off when you sit down to perform a restore, make sure you have ten to twelve hours to devote to it. You'll be busy reinstalling a whole lot of things.
While it's true Windows XXp has a restore feature, the same can be said for any version of windows. Ussing this future won't restore your computer to its defult setting.
If you wish to restore your computer back to the factory instulled setting you should use only the cds provided to you by your computer's manufacture. If you are unsure on what CD to use first. Look for something that has your windows operating system written on the lablel. If you don't have it'll say something like system restore CD. Pay attention if it has a disc label number printed on it. ALWAYS start with the disc labeled 1. Only change CDs when prompted to by the computer.
Never use the F10 restore feature unless you're an experanced dos programmer or have knowledge about dos strings. Otherwise you could trash your computer's memory.
