Do you think Michael Vick should have been given a second chance?

I was discussing this with my brother. I am a very sporty person, I love basketball, football and any other sport. I am the type of person to support pro athletes even when they have done something very stupid and thoughtless, such as drinking and driving, having a gun in the club and dog fighting. My brother is a very hardcore biker, who likes football and loves dogs. We were arguing whether Michael Vick should or should not have been given a second chance at the NFL. I said yes everyone deserves a second chance, especially since many football players are given second chances when they have done something stupid. My brother said he should have been sent to prison longer and no second chance, because the dogs had no chose and he electrocuted and tortured dogs. I wanted to get other peoples opinions on this topic. Should Michael Vick been given a second chance in the NFL?

I think that if we are going to give baseball players and other athletes second chances for using steroids, then Vick should get his second chance as well. What he did was VERY wrong and I was extremely upset to hear the news, but he wants to get his life back on track. I think his sentence should have been a little longer and I think it would be great if he volunteered at an animal shelter or something now just so that he realizes how important animals are.

I have no problem with Michael Vick having a second chance. My problem with Vick is that he did not show the remorse that should have been shown towards what he did to those animals. He simply went through the motions to serve his time and do his community service. Many people here locally, as I am close to Richmond, VA, protested Vick's release as they felt much as I do that he did not truely learn from what he did. Especially since he was able to get back into the NFL so easily.
