A survey is run on the subject, and the result is man more likely to be depressed by financial crisis. Maybe because they bear more responsibility for the family? Not exactly. Women find relief from love to children, to spouse, and from colleagues and friends. They are relatively looking farther forward to a favorable future. Anyway, whether man or woman, we need find way to ride over the difficulty in a smarter way. Your opinion, please?

to be honest until I read the answer I would have guessed women. Women are generally responsible for doing the bill paying and needing to have money left to do the grocery shopping. I realize there a few good men out there willing to do the grocery shopping, but there's also those that has no idea how expensive grocery shopping is. I do understand the reason why men tho.

I would say men are more likely to be depressed more. It has nothing to do with the times and I am not "old-fashioned" but I do think men tend to see a much bigger picture than women. There is a saying that men will be comforable with a million dollars while women will be comfortable with a thousand. Because men, in most circumstances, take on the role of being the sole "umbrella" over the entire family and everything he is involved in, a "he gives and she takes/they take" scenario. Even though many would say times have changed, as limited as it is, (no, it has nothing to do with so-called "male-domination" or "chauvinism"), men have always felt that they must be the one to take charge when something goes wrong. Women on the other hand spend their money on themselves more than men - again - times have changed and I see more "narcississm" in men but that becomes another subject. The logic to follow would be in times of trouble, "men give because of responsibility and women give because they are forced to". Prove me wrong but 9 times out of ten, i see this in almost all my encounters with the people I know.

Yes, i am sure men will be more depressed by a financial crisis. There are many reasons for it. Women don't bother much about things other than husband's health, food, children health and such things. They can manage financial crisis much better than men. Moreover women seem to take big problems easy-I wonder why they do so... In most of the families finance department is meant for men, may be that is another reasons they are not depressed much during a financial crisis...

in this times,I used to think that women are affected most with the financial crisis.most women are breadwinners.they work hard to support their families.they sacrifice to give a better life for their families and give their needs.they are really giving to their family.well,if men are really more depressed,I think it's because they feel less about themselves when they can't earn enough money to support a family or themselves.

I do believe that man are more likely to be depress in a financial crisis, not because the bear more reponsability than women, but because it was drill in their head since childhood that they have to be the caretaker of their family financially, has for women having less reponsability, when you think that most women hasve a 9 to 5 joibs, 2 kids, a husband and a house to take care, that is a lot of resposability especially when the man is not helping much

Hi This is jude and i agree that man more likely to be depressed by financial crisis but that will not be always true because it depends on the circumstences. To overcome this one has to understand the situation & discuss it with the family & in the family whoever it may be they has to corporate with the person to overcome & at the same time luck also influences the situation.

Hi zhuhuifen, I'm not surprised with the result of the survey as the majority of men still feel that they must to be the main breadwinner for the family. I agree too that women often have a different view on life then men but you are right in saying that we need to find a smarter way to ride out this particular financial storm. Also, I don't expect things to return to the "business as usual" mentality that was widely accepted a few years ago. Maybe it will be better because it was such ideas that 'nothing could go wrong', that got us into this difficulty in the first place. Blessings.

zhuhuifen both equally if I am in any position to judge as this financial crisis has broken up my family and lost our home and we are now both in different places but thank god not too far apart.I landed in a center for senior citizens here at gold crest my son in govsponsored apt. with three other men. all are looking for work.yes we are both depressed of course, why wou ldnt we be, our lives ripped up, our future uncertain, its not much fun like this for sure.My opinion is that the president needs to do something now to help the jobless and the homeless and not just talk about it,talk does not do anything at all.
