How far could you go to save a cellphone?

This morning, I heard a radio news about a person who died because of saving his cellphone from a burning house. He was already able to save his wife and children when he noticed that his cellphone was still inside the house. He went in again and was never able to get out of the raging fire.
I could not believe that person risked his life saving a cellphone.
How about you myLotters, how far could you go to save your cellphone from being destroyed/stolen/damaged?

I think we could not blame him for his actions. Maybe he got his mobile phone through great pain meaning he really worked hard and have greatly saved in order to have a mobile phone. So I think that is why he was really into that actions of saving his phone. I myself, will definitely do everything just to save my mobile phone because this is the result of my sleepless nights of always online in order to raise and save money in order for me to buy this great phone of mine!

You have a point. Maybe his cellphone was one his priced possession. Or maybe, he was confident that he could still survive the fire and get out safely.

I am not even mad to do like the above person did. Risking own life to save a cell phone is just too much....

I agree. He should have considered his own safety and the welfare of his family. However, we really don't know what exactly happened. I just wish the best for his family.

Poor guy, looks like he really loved his cellphone. As of me, I would never go to this extent to save my cellphone, though I can try to save it if the path is safe. I may sound like a freak, but the cellphone is my life.

I understand. Most people nowadays could not really live without a cellphone.

Well I'm not going to burst through the raging flames burning my house down just to get a cell phone? ...maybe he was waiting on a very important phone call? Homer Simpson {8^{l}

What he did is really foolish. Maybe, the phone was one of his greatest possessions in life.

I guess with the insurance my cell phone company offers I don't see the point in trying to save it. I try to be careful with it but not to extremes.

It's good that your cellphone company provides insurance. Here in the Philippines, I'm not aware of any cellphone/insurance companies providing insurance coverage for these items.

Its taking all I have not to start twitching at the idiocey. I once replied to a topic saying that I couldn't live without my cell phone, but no phone is worth risking your life over. Now a days any data that may be on a majority of cell phones can be recovered or replaced.
My question is, what on earth could be so important on that phone that the idiot risked his life?
Personally I feel sorry for the wife and children who this man left behind.

I agree. We have only one life while cellphones could be replaced easily.
