Prepare for a mini-rant: I do NOT like war metaphors in love songs. What about you? I hear SO many songs (especially top 40's) where the artists and songwriters use WAR as a metaphor for the struggles of being in love and dealing with it's emotional ups and downs. I personally do not think this is an ACCURATE metaphor at ALL and I wish they would stop doing this. While love can be tough at times, I don't even think it's comparable to the turmoil of being in the army and being deployed and being at war. Songwriters/singers like Jordin Sparks and Sean Kingston have done this - among MANY others! Am I wrong in this thinking? Or do you agree with me?

Well, war can mean much more than two or more countries fighting. It could also be a psychological and emotional war. However, I have to agree that war is a bit overused. I understand why war is one of many main themes for Metal, but I think it should be used in moderation in love songs. We can't feel like we're in a war all the time when we're in love. Everyone would be wearing army helmets and trying to sing depressing songs.
