Ever since the 100th post I have had 6 stars next to my name... I have no idea what this means... now for whatever reason I have 7 stars.
Is this good or bad? Is 10 stars the best and 1 star the worst?
And the most important question: do stars affect earnings? I have not seen much change, I am still getting $0.01 per post, regardless how long the post is.

The star is the direct result of how others have rated your posts.
0 is the lowest and 10 is the highest and yes, it does affect your earnings, A user with a higher star will earn more for their activity than one with a lower star.
You can point your cursor over the star to see your percentage of plusses (and those of others on their star too).
You can undestand it all much better if you take time to read here:

MysD, you have been quite the busy little bee today ... or rather the busy ball of sunshine, although I think that your mood is probably less sunny than it is firebolt by now. I have been comment stalking you and doing some reporting based on your hard work. I hope that you don't mind, even though you are the one that did all the work today, I believe that what I did is the good kind of "copying".
Revan, you are very lucky to have such a wise person helping you out here. If you listen to MysD and take her advice, she will never steer you wrong and you will reap the benefits of her knowledge. Unfortunately, her star has suffered from trying to help others, but there are a lot of us here that are trying to get her star rating back up to where it should be.

The star is in no way connected to activity.
Indeed those with more activity often have lower stars because it takes more plus ratings to move them up compared to a user with less activity.

no stars did not affect your earnings..it means only which is your mylot rating!!So if you are able to write quality posts or discussions your star will improve and so the colour and numbe rinside will change..but all this will happen during your activity..

The stat with the number inside is how other users have rated you either positive or negative. the higher your rating the higher your earnings, so it does affect them. When I first started, I only had a 3, and it took me awhile to get where I am at now, but I am completely satisfied with mine. Actually, the longer the post, the better your earnings and the better rating you will get. It does take effort on your part to do the best you can, and that is all you can do. I just kept posting responses, and a few discussions, and all of a sudden mine went up, and kept going up. You actually don't have a bad rating for just getting your star. Just keep posting quality, and you should se your star rating go up. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I just got 9 star today, and I search discussion about the star, and I found in this discussion. I read the other comment, and it very useful. Mysd always give useful comment, and the others too.so, how about "9 star" ? it's good?

Revan, the fact that your star has gone from a 6 to a 7 is a good thing. It means that other people think that your discussions and responses are quality ones, and they have rated you positively. As MysD already said, your earnings are based in part on your star rating. We do not know exactly how it affects earnings, but it might only be a slight increase, so you might not notice it at first. As you continue to post and respond to discussions, though, you will notice your earnings will continue to add up. Keep doing what you are doing, and you will continue to see your star rise, too.

I agree! Keep doing what you are doing. Never change the way you do things for the sake of your star, never ever! Be yourself!
