Are electric brushes bad for your teeth?

i've been using an electric brush for over a year now and i love it, it's way better than normal brushes. only thing one of my friends just recently told me they were bad for your teeth if you used them consistently. is that true?

i have ordered one today..
i have been using the ordinary brushes as it is only available here.
and now i have ordered one electric from abroad..
it has to come now.
it is my first experience with it,
could you lay me some instructions of using it
