There are alot of anti-gay people out in this world! Sorry to say I work with one women like that at my job! First she believes everything that is wrote in the bible! Next she doesn't believe the church should have gay clergy. She is also against gay marriage, gays adopting children and that all gays in the military are all wimps! She even believes being gay is a chose and you can't be born gay! She won't even talk to the gay cook at work! This is how anti-gay she is! I have voiced my opinion on this but it has gone on death ears! I believe if you are gay you were born gay! Gays should equal rights like everyone else! They should be allowed to get married if they choose! I know the rule in the military is;If you are gay don't tell anyone which I think is dumb! I also know alot of gays proudly service their country and will do anything for freedom! I just wish everyone would be excepted! No matter of you race, creed, sexuality, etc! We are all God's children and He created all of us! So get over this gay issue, please! I'm sick of this issue!

hi urbandekay - exercising your tact again i see - can't quite understand what the point of this was
. anyway i think disliking an unpleasant (and sometimes downright nasty)attitude IS much more rational then disliking people because they are attracted to the same gender. why does anybody care so much about other peoples' love lives anyway?

I would probably agree with you because I have no patience for people that constantly bash gays. I think they should have as much rights as non-gays to live out their lives, and as long as they're not hurting anyone, what's the problem? None. Well, there are unfortunately a lot of ignorant, or perhaps misinformed people that believe that to be gay is a choice. No that's not how it works. Being gay is actually established from your birth, as has to do with your chromosomes. Yes I agree we are all created equal from God. Yes I do think some people have completely distorted or antiquated views on gays from the Bible. I should mention that I live in Canada (Vancouver actually) where gay marriages are legal, and on a daily basis I see so many gays holding hands or kissing, and it's really no big deal to me. Also my mother in law is in fact very anti-gay and has made it publicly known that if her sons ever turned out gay that she would disown them. Well, I think that's very sad to have that kind of viewpoint, and fortunately for her, her sons are straight. But yes I think gays are some of the funnest, creative, most entertaining people you can meet. :)

I only have a problem with gay "marriage" because "marriage" is a sacrament. If they want to have civil unions, that's fine, a civil ceremony is all many heterosexual people have and I don't call those "marriages" either, even if they want to.
They should have equal rights, but they shouldn't have MORE than equal rights - that some atheists seem to demand. I don't believe in non-Christian religions, but I don't try and stop them from having their celebrations - like some other religions try to not have Christian holidays forced on them.
I don't celebrate certain pagan festivals, but I don't stop the them from having them. I don't practice the fasts of the Muslims, but I have no desire to stop them from doing so.

you have your opinion and i am not saying it is right or wrong but you are intolerant of people who do not agree with you and that is a prejudice in and of itself. everyone is entitled to their opinion and to express that opinion. just because someone does not agree with you is not a cause to dislike them. i'm just sayin'.

I am not saying I'm intolerant of people I don't agree with! I know everyone has a right to their own opinion! My opinion is in some ways I am getting sick and tired of hearing how many people are anti-gay and that alot of it comes from the bible which I believe is mostly just stories that aren't true! This is what I can't stand! People who call themselves christian are two faced about what the bible teaches! If I haven't developed an open mine on religion I would of turn out being anti-gay, a bigot and a racist all wrapped up in one! This what bugs me the most of this person! I could of ended up with her views! Thank God I didn't!

Hi bluepacket, you're being brave on this one as you'll probably get a lot of disagreement but I just can't understand homophobia in this day and age. The issue of gay marriage is a right which should be extended to them for legal purposes and I can't understand why some religious people oppose it as it advocates committment. Back in the UK I was friends with quite a lot of gay men and loved their company and if someone has a problem with them then that is what it is, their problem. I think it isn't right that they need to be so vocal with their prejudices though, some people will always be so intolerant to never accept others being gay but it really is none of their business. Suprised you that we agree?

In someways this women who hates gays doesn't surprise me! She hates alot of other things and people! Most of the time she won't say why she hates a person so much! She'll complain about everything else and when it comes to gays she won't hold back! In some ways this woman can be figured out and other ways it is "what the heck is wrong with her?" I'm not the only one who looks at this anti-gay person that way!

i agree with jewels - this is brave, well done blue 65
. i also agree with you, there is no reason for bigotry of this nature, it is nasty and intolerant. i especially don't understand how people who claim that they have a compassionate religion then go around attacking people for what, lets face it, is none of their business anyway. why are they so determined that gay people shouldn't have the same rights as everybody else? why not?

Thanks for the very nice rely! I knew this would be a tough subjct and I'm glad I started it! I don't know why people are determined to not let gay people to have the same right! It is a gender issue that sounds alot like a race issue! I'm getting really sick of people who are ant-gay! Gays aren't going away and can't understand that! The anti-gay people I mean!

Some times the more wrong a person knows he is in his heart the harder he holds on to out-dated and antiquated ideals. So discrimination remains rampant. You are right when you say that someone who is gay should be entitled to every right someone who is straight is.
Most of the time you can't shout down ignorance. All we "extremeist" can do is lead by example and hope like h*ll the kids are watching us. You can't teach some old dogs new tricks..but a young one is a blank slate and can maybe take a more tolerant attitude into the future.
Brave choice of topic by the way

Thanks for the nice response! You are right you can't teach a dog new tricks but you can teach a new dog new treats! I hope I can do this with my two great nephews! I'm sure how their dad feels about people being gay but I wouldn't be surprised his wife is anti-gay! She is 30 but she has a lot of old school point of views! So we will see!
