hi, i'm a 57 yr. old woman. i not only lost my job, but my husband lost his, too. the unemployment checks don't even come close to what we thought we needed. of coarse we have learned we can do with less. i'm sure you are ,too. this is what we did...last spring we decided to take some stuff to the flea market to make a little cash to try and get caught up. when friends and family heard about it they came with loads of 'stuff' for us to sell at the flea market. yes, we started with enough free merchandise to get our 'business' off the ground. we never thought we would be still at it 6 months later, but we are. now we go to an auction every friday evening and at the end of the auctions they sell boxes of junk - you won't know what's in them unless you buy them - for a buck or 2. we're making a hundred or more a weekend. we didn't plan on this for a business, but now that we are in it we love it. love the treasures we find in the auction boxes, the cash people hand us, the friends we have made. lots of dealers bring their kids with them. clean out your closets and the kids toybox. with christmas coming and people tightening their belts more and more will shop flea markets for christmas presents. kids clothes/shoes sell quick. my husband makes baked goods; banana nut bread ($3), giant cookies ($1) fudge and brownies. if you're interested i can give you his banana nut bread recipe. he now has people who come out to the flea market every week just for this bread. even if you don't decide to keep doing it at least you can make a few bucks for christmas. and remember, those children will grow up in the blink of an eye. you'll always be glad you decided to stay home with them. i thought i had to work. 20 years later my employer went belly up. i lost everything, including those years i could have been with the most important people in the world. you can do this. lynn

I'll keep you in my prayers and hope you don't encounter the problems we did at the flea market. The food we were selling was collected by the state health department because we were not licensed to sell food and didn't have all the credentials they demanded. At least they didn't fine us. Then the sales tax department showed up an closed down more than 1/2 the flea market because no one was collecting sales tax and you couldn't include it in the price of the product, it had to be accounted for separately. Then the city showed up and required we get a business license from them because we were there too many weekends in a row. We finally just quit and went home, just too many hassles and the licenses were going to be expensive. Good luck to you!

lol....for you info, I joined more than 5 years ago, and was active a short time, and just now back. I'd never consider it for a good income producing site, but combined with other sites, it might help!

well i sold avon after i had my first because like you i wanted to make some money plus i wanted to do something worthwhile. mylot is a good start and also, if you have a lot of cute baby outfits that you dont want to keep, you can always try selling them on ebay. (or anything else for that matter!)

Well, I was going to welcome this person on board but as I started to respond, I noticed that the discussion was 3 yrs old and the person starting this discussion has not returned since so what's the point?

i understand how you feel about receiving that paycheck and knowing that you earned that and you were independent. i'm not a new mom or a mom at all, but i am currently not working because we had to move and it sucks not to have my own money. i'm a very independent person and i never ask money from my husband. but he's trying to pay all my debts but i really won't let him. and so i'm still searching for work but i use mylot for now and i know it's not going to bring in the money i need but since i don't do anything else i might as well work on here. cause i got tired of getting scammed from all the other bull crap sites.

I can certainly understand how you feel. I got my B.A. last spring, and my husband and I had our first child last November. So, right now, I don't have an income coming in. It can certainly be frustrating to feel dependent on someone else for income, but it's still one reason why I do like mylot. I enjoy earning online, as it does give me some form of income, as small as it may be.

Making money through mylot is very slow, but it is soemthing to do while you are doing your other jobs. I have learned to shop discount stores to save money a lot of them carry the same products as the major stores for a lot less. that helps. and, I am very frugal, and usualyl do not spend very much money on myself mainly on my child.

I think there are some nice ways to make money online, but do not expect any miracles. Making money online takes time, and you need to be very patient and hard working. But it is possible, if you just try long and hard enough! Good luck with your new role and your online earnings!

I'm in the same situation and also hoping this site will help bring in at least some extra cash. Although I'm not relying on mylot fully, it's a great way to earn some money as well.
