It seems like they have more money to throw away.I know people do have an addiction, but alot of them do not admit to this. They either put their money in fruit machines, play poker gamble on other things like horses. When thy win they are always bragging saying they have won tousands yet they never say how much they have lost trying to win. What do you think.

I admit we gamble , we bet in lottery. We are believing in false hope that we can be a one day millionaire. We experience winning before but not million, but that is not the reason why we continue to patronize it, to experience it once again. If I will compute how much money we already spend I guess it will be near to thousand now. We are just trying our luck and we are still on the stage that we believe we can win again. There is nothing wrong in believing but the problem is on the accumulated money already spent.

I also play the lottery and i must say i only get small wins and they are not even 10% of what i have paid out to get the chance to win either.I do think that someone has got to win it so maybe one day it could be me and they do say that you have got to be in it to win it dont they.

We don't have the casino's around here, but they sure do go to bingo and spend alot on the pull tabs on top of the bingo cards. They brag on what they won, but you sit there and watch how much they spend to win. It does amaze me. I don't go, but about once a year, but these people go every week or more than once a week.

I also have a friend that go to bingo and all they do is brag when they win and when they win it is not that often either.I think there are alot of people that payout alot more than what they win so i can not see how they can say they have won anything when they add it all up.

I spend $5 a week playing the lottery, and that's it. I don't understand the people who gamble everything away trying to win that big one. I want to win big one day, but I am not going to go into debt trying to get there.

It's hard for people to admit their mistakes especially for something like gambling which apparently brings them joy. My mother has a gambling addiction but won't accept she has a problem. She keep saying she is normal and not doing anything wrong. I guess no one else can help her but herself.

I think that alot of people it is the way they have lived for along time and i think it all begins when they have their first big win and then they think they are on a role and then they seem to never stop until they have lost something,or someone that is dear to them.

Money to throw away! Isn't that the truth. And if they admit to an addiction then it doesn't work anymore. If they aren't lying to themselves and in the throws of the addiction then where is the fun? Two of my ex's were gamblers. They would spend the hundreds they brought with them and then wire home for more. I would start stealing some off the table from them so we would have gas and food money for the trip home. Then we would fight because I refrused to give it to them. Horrid. I take $50 bucks. I don't stick on one game. When I feel iffy on my luck vibes I go do something else. I have never come home with less than $50.

I think that people that spend a lot of time in casinos do in fact have an addiction problem. I once knew someone that was either playing bingo on a nightly basis, or playing pool for money or at the casino on a nightly basis and he went through 10,000 in one week. Then, he was riding high on the horse when he walked out of the casino 1,000 ahead. This is a problem which he needed to get some help for.
I, on the other hand, do enjoy gambling every now and then but is not something that I have to do on a regular basis and it is not something that I do with no guilt. When I go to the casino, I limit myself to losing 40 dollars, if I come out ahead, great, but if I come out behind, I know that I haven't lost more money than I could afford to lose.

There are alot of people that go out for a drink and spend all the time as well as all their money on fruit machines as well.I know a few people that brag when they have won on a fruit machine that they have won jack pot,but never say how much it has cost them to win to begin with.Even when people lose on a fruit machine they tend to say oh well i won last night on a different fruit machine or they say they are still money up from other wins that they have had.

It is so sad when people allow their gambling to turn into an addiction. It is just like any other addiction when it starts to take over their life then it is time to get help. Just like everything else it should be just for fun and in moderation.

Very true my friend, people always keep bragging if they won but sometimes quiet when they loose. The truth is some spend more loosing than winning. Gambling is an addiction, if you win you would want to keep playing more and when you loose you would want to play much more to get your money back. In the end you end up loosing more money than winning. Me myself have tried gambling before but now i learned my lesson. I try to keep playing free poker tournaments, where i dont need to bet or spend my money and im doing quite good. Although playing free poker tournaments is not as fast to earn money than sit n go's, atleast im not betting or placing my own money and that means i have nothing to loose. Check my profile to see that poker site im playing, i didnt have to spend a dime and im earning.

My old boss used to bet on the horses but he really did win more than he lost. He used to really study form and followed certain trainers. He knew quite a few of the trainers and owners personally and moved in those kind of circles - the Royal Enclosure at Ascot and all that! He cut back most of it when a lot of the trainers retired but I know he still has a few small flutters but never anything he wasn't prepared to lose anyway. So he gambled but it was part of a much wider hobby and social thing for him.
At the same time I knew another guy who was a gambling addict and he was into ANY kind of gambling including things like fruit machines (bandits) where you really are pouring your money away. He went to GA and everything because he was living on cold beans and couldn't afford to heat the house because he threw all his money at the bookies and arcades. I heard from him recently and he sent me a link to his Facebook page. One of his favourites? On-line poker. It made me so sad because I know he'll be hooked on that now.
I suppose when it becomes an addiction it is like any other addiction, it distracts the addict from reality and takes over their lives. Its really sad but I suspect a lot of addicts if it wasn't one thing it would be another.

I have seen the effects of gambling. No, I don't gamble myself. I have witnessed a family break up because of gambling. The husband is a lawyer himself but it seems that his earnings are always way below what he gambles. He is into cockfighting and he has this vice of drinking. The wife broke up with him because it was already too much for the wife to take ... he sold their house as there was no other way to pay for the debts he incurred while he gambled. So there it is, he lost a house and he lost his wife. We do not know how he is doing now.

Gambling is very addicting. One should always be reminded on such thing. A gambler may not stop gambling until he's totally lost everything and more. But then if you've an amount willing to lose or some spare money then I think it's okay to gamble. Or maybe it's best to just donate the money instead of gambling.

Hi jugsjugs,
A gamble is always a gamble, Once if we are addicted to it them never we can forget that. Playing this gambling is we ourselves are putting us and our money in risk. I have heard from few people in recession period gambling is the only tend in earning enough money.
Have a great day

A gamble, will always be a gamble. Playing gamble games means putting your money at risk. You usually wins at first but as you hook on it, it slowly make you a loser. So why gamble your money? When you already know it's consequences.

Hi jug, it’s normal if betting a small amount of money when visiting casino during vacation. This would increase the pleasures of life if playing once in a while Besides it’s a great pleasure to test our luck. Anyway I don’t encourage people indulging in playing such game frequently.
As far as what I know when gambling losers always outnumbered gainers by 10% to 90%. Therefore it’s not wise to dump money to the banker or casino in such a short while. I don’t mind anyone saying that I’m stingy for I dislike betting in the casino. I cherish every penny I have for it is my hard earned money. It’s not worthy and rather silly as well to “donate” it to the banker or casino
Happy posting

I think that if people kept an accurate record of what they spent with the losses and wins side by side, they might gamble less. But I like to visit gambling resorts because those of us who do not have an addiction can enjoy the good prices on rooms and food and entertainment. If you go in the right season it is possible to get rooms at 1/10th of what a similar room might cost elsewhere. Of course the first time, I wondered if I rented a room there and then did not gamble, would they break my legs. I saw the film Casino in a casino, actually, and the next night, quite by coincidence we went to Las Vegas and checked into one that it was filmed in. When we got into our room, I looked out the window and below me was this swimming pool with a mosaic of a piano in it and I said "OMG~!" that was in the movie.

Yes in these resssionary times ,many people tend to think that gambling is the only way to make enough money .Many people use the machines you described while others buy the lottery .I myself engage in a form of gambling and have lost some money as well but its not organized gambling ,its risky investmenst

I myself have never seen the big deal about gambling. My husband and I have been gambling twice and that was both years that we went to visit my mother in law in Wisconsin and she took us to the Hochunk casino and we played and ended up winning 5 dollars the first time and losing 15 the second time and that was enough for us. I don't see the big deal in putting your money in a machine just to loose it all. We don't even do as much as buy tickets or play bingo LOL I don't have that much money to throw away on a chance of winning some

I have always hated gambling as there is nothing beneficial involved. I begrudge even putting 50p into a fruit machine but yet ive seen people put 100's through just getting a measly bit out!
I remember a mate of mine invited me out for a drink and he said "right we have 130 quid for the night" so we got to the first pub and got a drink in each at which point he went on to the fruit machine and promised he would spend a tenner tops, now its up to him as its his money but i hate seeing waste. By the time we had drunk our first pint he had got down to 15 quid from 130!!! needless to say all of the way through i was trying to convince him not to waste any more and joking that he might as well just give it to me to spend instead. Even with the last 15 he would not give up all the way through he just kept saying "its gonna go in a minute, its going, you watch" now i knew he would never win but there was no telling him, what a waste of a whole night! And 130 quid!
