Why haven't they made a sequel and feel they should?

MyLotters: This movie is ONLY second to the "Godfather" in best gangster movies ever released by far in my opinion. The way it ended with Tony's wife Elvira Montana leaving him a few days before he was gunned down by the drug cartel boss "Sosa" men. I always wondered if Elvira was pregnant or not...

I think sequels are often woefully produced - unless the intention was always to create a trilogy, or two films, or seven, or whatever.
Whilst I agree that Scarface is obscenely brilliant, I think a sequel would be a sin. No-one could begin to match the intensity of the acting in the original; plus, the context is totally different.
It would be interesting, though...
