What are you buying for your Mother this Christmas?

Mothers sometimes I find are the hardest to shop for on the holidays. I think it's pretty universal that we love them and we want to spoil them. However, don't you find they always seem to have everything and that it's really difficult to surprise them with something new? I admit I love spoiling my mother on the holidays because I appreciate everything she did for us while we were growing up, and it's nice to be able to return the favor. I think last year I bought her a spa package where she had pedicure, manicure, massage, facial, etc. and she said it was the best day of her life, as well as her first Coach bag. Sometimes I always buy her a Mall gift certificate so that we she can buy whatever it is she likes. How about you? What will you buy your Mom for the holidays?

Mothers do seem to be very hard to shop for. Mine tells me what she wants and she always gets it and a suprise. I try to remember everytime she says she would like something all thru the year. This year she said she wants a paper shredder. I also got her some clothes, but she saves everything for "good". I am on a limited income and she knows I can't afford a lot of things so she never says anything real extravagant. The idea of a massage etc. is a good one, but I don't think mine would really appreciate it. However, we did get a foot massage once and she loved it. I got her a gift certificate to take her car and get it washed & waxed. She'll probably like that the best.

Ok well you know your Mom and what she likes, and let's face it, we're all different here so what works for one Mom won't work for another. Your Mom sounds like a practical lady that would appreciate something for her car. Mine is very unpractical in every way. lol I do know that mine would appreciate a massage again, as she has osteo and arthritis so something like that would really help her. I'd love to of course, buy her the moon! But I do have a budget myself so I'm sticking to that.

Aw I'm really sorry to hear about your Mom. Will she be home from the hospital soon? I really hope so. My mother also has osteo as well as arthritis so I hear all about it, though fortunately mine has never had bleeding from the stomach, though she does find that her medicines upset her stomach though.

My mother has osteo and arthritis also. In fact she started an arthritis medicine and she wound up bleeding internally. She is in the hospital right now. Maybe a massage would be good for her health. She is practical and I do think she will like the car thing.

Is there perhaps an ulterior motive for you possibly buying her the shirt and shoes? lol Come on, fess up!! I admit I do the same at times, will buy Mom clothes and then one day it will magically disappear from her closet, and me being a slob will inevitably get a stain on it every time. I feel the exact way about my Mom and love spoiling her with presents. I think most people tend to spend the most on their Mom's it seems.

I'm thinking of buying her a basic mobile phone so that she can easily get in touch if she needs help when she is out. She did have one but it stopped working. I have already got her some small things like a diary, shower gel, books, chocolate etc.

Oh ok so you bought the smaller things as stocking stuffers I'm guessing. Yeah I think for the past 2 yrs I haven't really been buying any of the smaller stuff for stockings. I think I've just been giving gift certificates for various things.

Hi, Ilyzium! That was a nice package you bought for your mom. I am not sure yet what I will be getting for my mom this Christmas. She can be very particular about things especially the colors and styles of handbags, shoes or shirts, but not always and I think I know her taste. She has been receiving bags, shoes, blouse and perfumes from my siblings and I before, but I am thinking of getting her a blouse because I notice that she does not have any new one or probably a set of facial care for this year. I don't know if it's a good idea because I have not made up my mind yet.

Hello corrycrystal, ;) I know it was a VERY nice package and quite pricy too, so I'm glad that she actually appreciated it because I was afraid she'd never use it. Oh facial care, you know that's one thing I never buy her my Mom. Well, I used to but she'd never wear it. She prefers to spend her money on clothes, and spends little on cosmetics and nothing on skincare, despite the fact that I nag her about it. Sounds like you all know her taste really well then. Well that makes it easy for you. Just remember don't wait until the last second. ;)

As Christmas is near.I think of my mom to gift her something unique.but the most difficult question is what should i gift? So i began browsing the internet for the best gift to give my mom. There are many craft stores online that will help me out.As this is for a woman so its not going to be a easy task because women need real special attention when it comes to gifts, you know what i mean!

Well yes I know what you mean since women are all different and what works for one person doesn't for another. Or as the saying goes: One person's junk is another person's treasure. ;) Have fun and don't wait until the last minute. :)

It is really quite hard for me to shop for gifts due to limited time. It is also quite disappointing if after all the shopping effort, you will see that the person did not appreciate or like your gift, or the gift did not fit them. So I decided that this Christmas, I am just giving money to my mother. I think this is more practical.

You know I've actually done the same to my mother before? I've given money or a gift certificate because at least that way you know it's going to something that she'd want. It's a great idea, ok maybe it's not a personal gift but it would be something very much appreciated so they could buy their own "personal" gift.

Mine is difficult, because my mother only likes 2 things : clothes and lipstick. But she will only appreciate it if it's the exact color and pattern, otherwise she'll just say thank you sweetly but never wear it. So sometimes, when I see the right dress, I just buy it first and save it till christmas, or her birthday...lol

Oh well I guess it's pretty easy for you to buy her gifts then, so you wouldn't really have any worries there. You must also really know here style too to be able to pick something up through the year to give at the end of it?

hey ilyzium.. yeah i can feel your pain.. lol.. i too have a hard time choosing the best gift for my mom.. and even for my dad.. coz they can always buy anything they want when they want to coz they have the income and money.. and to add to that my limited budget prevents me from buying them really expensive gifts.. lol.. well i think you should just like ask her "hey mom if someone wanted to give you a gift for christmas what would you want?" it always works in my moms case.. and she knows that whatever she tells me she gets in the holidays.. she always just asks surprised so that i wont be disappointed that she knows what shes gonna receive.. :D and if you cant find any good gift for her.. you can always tell her.. "hey mom il give you my LOVE and PRAYERS".. lol.. :) have a great day

Well that would be a good idea in theory, however my Mom is the type of woman who always says that she has everything and doesn't need a thing! That's why it makes it difficult every XMAS, you never know what to buy?!! True enough Mom always buys herself whatever she wants because she's a major shopaholic. Dad on the other hand is a real cheapo and would never even buy himself a cup of coffee if her were somewhere in public, just too cheap to do that.
