Stay-cation

One of my friends recently went on a 'staycation'. Has anyone else heard of this? I guess she spent the weekend at a hotel, and had 2 days w/ her bf away from school, work, and family obligations. She swears by it. I've heard the phrase a few times, but never actually knew what it meant. Has anyone tried this? Just taking a couple days off work and going to a local spot...acting like a tourist even though you live a few miles away?

I think that is a recession having a stat at home vacation is a great idea. It would have accommodation so all the people have to pay for is transport. They might have a car or be able to travel on trains plus buses. I think that days out top places of interest are enjoyable. Usually the sort of traveling that I do is overseas. Staying at home would be stressful and hardly a rest. When I am exploring destinations overseas I have a relaxing and exciting time.

My own understanding of staycation is being at home during vacation. it statrted with the recession, a lot of people who do not have money for a vacation in another country stay at home or close to home like your friends did.
