Yah, a lot of stuff was cut out, which I disagree with because when Order of the Phoenix comes out, they will have to add in the stuff they left out or things won't really make sense.

well the thing is there are no limitations while writing a book. Whereas while adapting a book, you need to compress the book quite nicely and appropriately. I think they handled it beautifully in the movie. I never missed Winky while watching GOF onscreen.

I wish i could watch the 9 hour version, with every detail from the book.

I am in total agreement with you on this one! I'd love to watch the movies with every detail left in, and I have a friend who would be right there with me. At least that way we wouldn't leave the theater ripping apart the movies the way we do now. We like them (with the exception of POA, which we both hated as much as we could hate something Potter-related), but there's so much left out or subtly changed that we can't help tearing them apart. We spend a few hours dissing everything we can about them, then start talking about how great they are (again, with the exception of POA. That was just terrible).

alot of things were cut. mostly because they cant have a 5 hour movie to keep everything in it the same. and to have everything... our butts would hurt from sitting

I would have sat there 5 hours to watch the movie. I think there are enough true Harry potter fans who would as well. People sat for 4 hours watching Lord of the Rings, they'd sit that long for HP

You knw they were first thinking about splitting the book into 2 parts. I wish they had done that. ummm....like the first part on 18th nov 2005 and the 2nd one on 18th dec of the same year.
HOWZAAT!!??

A lot of stuff was cut. There was a lot of stuff in the book; the movie would have been too long. I was, however, quite disappointed that the entire house elf liberation storyline was missing, as I think it tells a lot about Hermione's character.

Ahh.. dont worry about Hermy's character. I think its very well established thanks to the first two movies.

I disagree with the fact they cut Percy out, that was a big story plot, I would like to see how they cover their tracks in OotP as to why Percy is angry with the weasleys and why the weasleys have disowned Percy

They mite add some sort of a flashback in OOTP to update us on Percy. That wud be cool eh?

I agree that I was disappointed that they left out Hermione's crusade to free the house elves. They could have taken 5 minutes to address it. Adding a half hour to the movie wouldn't have been such a bad idea to at least mention more stuff from the book.

I think that with them changing directors so much in the movies, they don't really let anyone expand on their abilities to actually get into the plot lines of the book. Sure, they cut tons of stuff out, but if you've only watched the movies, you understand it, whereas if you've read the books AND watched the movies, it loses you. I've read the books, but I have friends that haven't. I do believe there are quite a few things they could've added that wouldn't have even taken up a few seconds of film.

I think that Harry Potter and the goblet of fire does not lose any of the movie quality without the appearance Winky. They have made a fine movie and I cannot recall how many times I have watched the movie. One thing we have to understand is, the movie may not be able to accommodate everything written in the novel as a movie has limited length and have to maintain a very interesting story throughout the movie. So forcefully adding everything into the movie may not necessarily make the movie better.
