Oh, do I ever hate when this happens. I does happen to me once in a while.
There are a few things that have helped me:
A cup of decaf tea in the early evening,
Reading - preferably something light and soothing, no horror stories,
Watching television - again, no horror movies,
Listening to a CD with nature sounds - birds, water, etc.
These things help MOST of the time. There are times when nothing will help. Hopefully, you've had good rest since you started this post several days ago.

Have you tried going to bed earlier than usual? How about drinking some warm milk? Those things usually help me. Whenever I read a book while laying down I get very sleepy too over time. Maybe that will help too. Are you scared of things you see so that's why you don't sleep? You might have insomnia, so if this continues, you should seek medical help.

As far as I'm concerned,I may just listen to some soft music which will make me feel relax. In this way, I fall asleep so quickly. I am happy to see you will enjoy it. Happy mtloy.

In Africa you don't find this condition common because even if anyone had it ..the long hard days work at the farm would make you so tired that you will not have any other option but to just fall asleep ...
So , if you are having problems sleeping I suggest you find something to do physically ..like plant flowers in your garden , clean out the attic .. arrange old clothes etc ... At the end of the day you will be tired enough to sleep ... and when you wake up you will feel so fresh and relieved.

i have the same problem, i can't sleep right away when i go to bed and it end's up me to sleep very late and i even experienced lying in the bed and still can't sleep until morning camed and i'm so frustrated..i always struggles to sleep at night, but i don't take some pills that would help me sleep..the one thing that sometimes helps me to sleep is listening music...

Not being able to sleep is something that happens to the best of us. However if you're seeing things and its effecting your day to day behavior then I'd suggest going to your doctor and seeing if they can't check you out. It might just be a mild case of insomnia, but never the less best to not take the risk.
