Do you like how you look?

I am not really contented with the way I look, that is why I try my best, and financial capacity to help me with my appearance.
I know, one should be contented, but if you are continually teased about your skin color every single day, won't you do something about it?
My skin tone is not that dark, but it is dark enough to be teased. In the Philippines, whiter or fairer skin is beautiful, even if we were originally "kayumanggi", or tan.

Me too not satiated the way I look and what else to do because not much can help myself because I am a Red Indian blood descendant. Finally, what i have to do is just accept it and admit that acceptance is the best healer. Have to build up much more on 'inner' good looking, and forget about to have physical good looking. One great reason, I am enjoying my 'evening' time...hahaha!

Everywhere I walk through many people asked me "are you orient?" what else to answer. I replied YES YES YES hahaha! that is why i got many Asean friends and they no longer bother about that although after they knew my true identity. About Philippines, I love Zamboanga City a real Spanish heritage city.especially visiting Fort Pilar and City Hall building.

Hi kafueenu,
Being very fair skinned and living in this Country Spain I´m also being teased and sometimes with a lot of sarcasm to go with it.
So there you are you see there is always another side to the story.
However I don´t take any notice of these rude people and I never sit in the Sun to get a Suntan just to please them.
I please myself I was meant to be fairskinned and that´s the way I´m staying.
It´s really unfair and silly for them to tease you just about that.

Hiya kafueenu,
That´s just the way it is you go to the Beach and if you don´t want to be noticed you cover yourself up with what we call here un pareo which is a kind of wrapover skirt and and a T-shirt to stop your arms and top part from sunburning.
Yes those People are usually immature for sure.

As a teen, I didn't like the way that I looked, the way that I was. But, now, I'm a young adult and I've grown to accept the way that I am and the way that I look. Yes, I still to work on my faults, but I still have time to work on those. But overall, I like who I am, who I've become.

Kafueenu, I am truly sorry to hear that you are not contented with how you look. First of all, you should try not to compare yourself with others, it will get you nowhere. You have to accept your self, if you can't accept yourself, you will never love yourself. This can lead to destructive behaviour. Just ignore those people who tease you about your skin tone (obviously they don't know any better). Chances are: those people aren't even happy with themselves. You just can't give people the power to make you feel bad about yourself. I totally love my skin tone and the way I look, you should try to appreciate your uniqueness and start loving yourself more. Feel better soon

I concur with you mystiquejjj. Just imagine a world where all people were one type, all flowers were one type, all animals were one type, the day was always sunny and the air was still. There were only land and sea, and no rivers, lakes or springs. What a boring, colourless world it would be!!!
Therefore the Almighty made different races of people with different skin tones, different types of noses, eyes and features. The Almighty thought of creating plants of different types bearing flowers and fruits of different shapes, sizes, colours and scents. The Almighty made animals too of different varieties, shapes, sizes colours and features. The Almighty created the world of living and non-living factors that was in balance and harmony. I hope by now, Kafueenu will understand why she is made the way she is and accept herself as a creation of the Almighty.

In my opinion,I am not a beauty, though my friends will call me 'hi beauty'to flatter me.:p!
I think a woman stands out when she is confident. I try to comfort myself to believe I am attracting though i don't have beautiful face and hot shape, which i can't change. I try to improve my inner beauty and act like a lady. I don't like make up by many cosmetic, which is harm to my skin, but i really love skin care, which is a way to keep younger. Besides, I will keep fit by exercise.
Hi kafueenu, love yourself before others love you. AND i BELIEVE you are a beautiful and nice girl.
Have a nice one!

That is a really good question to ask. And nope I don't like the way I look. Skin disorders don't make you look or feel very pretty. I try to look nice all the time as in dressing up and putting makeup on and making my hair look nice. I think Philippine people are very pretty. Everyone has different skin colors. But I do understand what you are saying. But with me its not my skin color that bothers me its skin problems that the doctor says will never go away just maybe dull down.

Yes, I am content with the way I look. My skin is very pale, and I used to dislike that. But some people will do anything to make their skin look lighter. So I am happy with what I look like.
Although, sometimes I am a bit unhappy with the fact that everyone I meet thinks I am way younger than I actually am. So everyone thinks I am a teenager even though I haven't been a teenager in years... That is pretty much the only thing I don't really appreciate. But I suppose that someday I will love the fact that I look so young.
I always try to remind myself that God made me the way I am for a reason. If you are different, don't try to be like everyone else. There is no one else who is just like you. Flower bouquets are beautiful because of the variety of beautiful flowers. So bloom into the beautiful person you were made to be!

Trends in what is "beautiful" are always changing. In the 1800s and before, here in the US, white skin was considered attractive because if you had dark or tanned skin, it meant you were a lower-class laborer who worked outside. People of wealth had inside jobs and never worked the fields, thus had light un-tanned skin.
In these days, the situation is reversed. Lower-class labor work inside in factories and never see the sun. Wealthy people who can afford to go outdoors and to the beaches, have tanned skin. Today in the US, tanned or darker colored skin is considered attractive. White skinned people get teased.
Why did I tell you this? Because popular culture of what is "beautiful" is always change, and completely irrelevant. Of course no one likes to be teased, but what does their opinion matter?
Here's a dirty little secret: There are only two reasons people tease others. One, they are just as unhappy and insecure about themselves. Two, they are bitter and jealous of you, and teasing you makes them feel better.
But knowing that doesn't help does it? I know because I had to wrestle with the same problem. At some point I just had to make a choice. Not easy, but a specific decision that I was not going to let those people bother me.
Sometimes it means you have to change who you hang out with. They want to tease you, stay away from them. If you can't get away, tell them to shut up. If they are friends who are just ignorant, tell them straight up "please stop teasing me that way, it really hurts my feelings". Let them know straight to their face, that what they are doing hurts you. If they don't stop, they are not really friends, and it's best you find that out as soon as possible.
But you have to make a stand, and determine this isn't going to be a part of your life. Why? Because I don't care if you have unlimited wealth, and piles of money reaching to the sky, if you let people bother you this way, they will ruin your whole life.
If you lightened your skin, there would be people who teased you about having light skin. If you lost 30 kg, they would tease you about being skinny. If you gained 30 kg, they would tease you about being heavy. If you had plastic surgery, they would tease you about that.
In the end, there should be only 3 people who should care how you look. God, Yourself, and maybe your spouse. Everyone else should grow up, and let you be you. If I seem intense about this, I am. I have zero patients for people who are jerks about things you have absolutely no control over, and you should not either. Life is too short to waiting on the approval of selfish idiots who get their fun at your expense. I have seen your pictures, and you are an attractive girl. If they can't see that, throw sand in their face and walk away.

Hi. I cannot understand why humans are not satisfied with what they have. Some have fair skin. But they sun bathe to have tan skin and they say, " Wow,tan is beautiful!"
On the other extreme those with tan skin say it is "ugly." They use cosmetics to
make their skin fair. Why can't we be happy with what God has endowed us?

I guess that is just a normal dilemma for a biased and colonial mentality that we Filipinos used have. I like what i look, I have a tan color of my skin and lots of my friends are mestizas, with a white complexion skin. They complain of maintaining a sunblock because sun exposure would give hen an allergy.
I love my skin color, anyway what matters is your inner beauty and your intelligence. at any rate if cjanging your skin color can make you happy, then by all means do it. Life is all about searching for your happiness. God bless.

I can understand if you are not happy with your weight or if you don't like the color of your hair, but your skin? You were born that way. There is nothing wrong with you. The people who tease you are wrong and they are ugly for doing so.

Be content with the way God made you. Dont use fake or artificial way to try to look good. Makeup= hoe paint. Naturalness is beautiful. Personally i prefer dark skin. The darker the better.
People who tease are shallow minded idiots. They are not comfortable with themselves and often make fun of what they are jealous of. Ignor them. Its not worth your time to worry about what they are saying.
Stay beautiful!!!

I like my skin... I sometimes wish I could tan, but at least I've never had to deal much with zits and stuff. It's too pale, but at least it's clear. OI like my lips. I like my eyes. My nose is okay. The one thing I DO NOT LIKE is that I am overweight. I don't want to be skinny or anything, but I really wish I could lose a significant amount of weight. I know I would be healthier, but I also think I would be a lot cuter.
Unfortunatley, my health is such that it ISN'T just a function of dieting and exercise. Those won't do it for me. But I have to just do my best until the REST of my health improves to the point I am able to lose weight like an average person.

Why are you trying so hard to please the rest of the world? I have crooked teeth, but since I don't complain about them or tell everyone I'm displeased with them, I'm often told I have a beautiful smile!
Am I happy with how I look? You bet! I have two legs and they walk all over the place - my husband can no longer say that. I have two arms to hug my loved ones - my husband only has one that can hold anything. I have the gift of speech - my husband has lost that, too. My eyes see words and letters and numbers and I rejoice because I understand them all...my husband no longer knows even the letter A.
I am 5' 2" tall, weigh in at 185 pounds, have gray hair and wear wire-rimmed glasses. My eyes are hazel except when I get angry, then they turn green. As I said before, my teeth could use braces. I have a six inch scar on my knee from a partial knee replacement. I have had the rotator cuff repaired in my shoulder. I have been in six car accidents, the first of which required 150 stitches to put the side of my face together again.
But when I get up in the morning, I am thrilled with my body! It walks, grasps, sees, hears, speaks and best of all it gives me the strength to help my husband. I can ask for no more than that.

I probably was more concerned with my looks when I was younger. It seems most females aren't happy with something about their looks. I have thick curly hair and I always wanted straight hair. My friends with straight hair want curly. You always seem to want what you don't have. I guess everyone is trying to fit in. Now I am older and I have a physical handicap and my looks are the least of my worries. I am very pale and I used to always try and get a dark tan. I don't worry about it anymore, and if I do I use a sunless tanning creme. What is on the inside is more important than how you look on the outside.

Hi, I think appearance is not very important, but if someone around you pay attantion to your skin color that will be serious, if i'm in your position maybe i will move to a new place or chang my work.In fact this depends on there are how many people have the same skin color with you, everynot won't feel good if he or she stand in a difference skin color people lonely.
