Hi!! Many of the ladies nowadays prefer a short hair cut rather than keeping long tresses as far as I know.It would have been sad to lose the long hairs but you can't do much about it now rather than get used to it.

Hi Aadi, i did not have any bad experience with hair salon. they follow what i want and even suggest what is best for my hair. i had my hair cut and hair treatment two months ago. i am satisfied with the way the salon staff treated me.

the only problem that i can see based on my experience is more clients want to be served immediately. they don't have the patience to wait for their turn even if they know that the line is long and there are lots of customers waiting. there's so many parlors and salons here but there is one salon here where people go to for hair care and service.

Hi!! You are the lucky one as me he he.I have never had any bad experience but they many a times hesitate to suggest new styles as they think that maybe after wards the customer won't approve of the new look. Can't blame them as many of the customers create a fuss over their new look many a times.

Actually I have twice. The first took place years ago. Well, I remember going in for a hair color and the color was supposed to turn out a burgundy color, and turned out black and uneven! This was 2 days before I was going on my trip overseas! Well, I called the salon back to complain and was told that only that hairdresser can re-do it. However, she went on holiday and they said that no-one else can do it for me! Omg! I thought I was going to have a heart attack, I was that upset! Well, I went on my trip and my hair fried even more and looked terrible when I came back. I went to this other salon that I found out was aphiliated with this one, so they were giving me free conditioning treatments to repair my hair. The next bad experience is more current. Ok, well the salon that I'd been going to has a habit of under booking it's clients. That is they won't allot enough time to the stylist to do your hair, and the stylists are expected to be a lot speedier than they were before, at the expense of it's clients. Three times I'd been there having my hair colored and been told that, oh well there's not enough time as the Receptionist didn't allocate enough time for my appointment, which means that my stylist might not have time to "style" the hair after she's done coloring and cutting it. Luckily the stylist had time to blow it dry but not actually style, but I think that's absolutely ridiculous! I've stopped going there but I will be sending a nasty letter to the owners to complain! That's their cheap, BS way of getting more clients in for the amount of time, or lack of time. Was your friend compensated for his trouble at the salon? Did they give him a discount or something for his next visit? Because that's really ridiculous. Well we need to speak up about these things, because these incompetent people can't get away with these things.

Hi!! The first experience was really sad and I think for your second bad experience the salon is anyways going to shut down if its going to behave the way they did with you. They would be doing this with all their customers and many of them would be having second thoughts of again going to the same salon. As for my friend, they didn't give him a discount and he had to move out of there sulking and cursing the barber.

I have had a bad experience once. I tried this new salon in our city with my mom. It was terrible. The hair stylist wouldn't hear what I wanted with my hair, like he doesn't care. I asked him if he had a certain hair styling tool that previous hair stylists used on my hair (it helps to make my hair look thinner because it's all fluffy), however, he got offended and said that it's not the tools that would make a haircut good, but the talent of the hair stylist. Then it was all down hill from there. I actually blogged about it: http://www.thingswelovetohate.com/2008/11/index-salon-is-worst.html (link relevant) I'm glad you don't have bad experiences. I hope it stays that way!

Hi!! Yeah many overconfident hairdressers show lot of attitude as they think they are one of the best in business and we the customers are fools and don't know anything about style.I read your blog and saw the pic,he really messed up with your hair :(.

Oh yeah!!! Honestly, I am so worried to have my hair cut by a hair cutter in salons. Because they usually don't take my style opinion. Hahaha. I am always unsatisfied with my haircut. My worse experience was, I like to have a layered hair (like shaggy style) but, I ended up getting short, weird and flyaway hair style. Haha. happy lotting!

Hi, danitykane. I once had very short haircut which most of my office workers commented that it looked good on me. I have since grown it long and their opinions don't matter to me now, lol. I like my long hair this time. Now back to your feeling of unsatisfaction with your haircut. Wouldn't it be worth trying another hairstylist to do your haircut the next time? I now have a regular hairstylist to do my hair but in the past, it took me several times to "test" the expertise of different hairstylists until I sticked on one.

Funny you should ask. I have been having my sister cut my hair (she was a cosmotologist for years but years ago, to save money. She just cut my hair and it is the absolute worst hair cut I have ever had! But what do you say? I can always spend my money.....

Why do you always cut your hair at the hands of your sister when you know she's gonna make you look horrible with a bad haircut.Just to save money, you used to play with your looks, lol I won't do that.

Too many times! My mother was a hair dresser and me being her only daughter...I was kind of her guneau pig growing up. I hated it. As soon as I was old enough to rebel and have my dad side with me on it...I just grew my hair. I did not trust any sissor people and I just grew my hair down to my waist. I kid you not...I used to have to have my hair put in tight pincurls each and every nite from the time I was 3....probably before that until I was 14years old....ever try to sleep on those things...it's painful. it was hll to say the least. I was 21 when I first visited a salon...thinking they can't all be like my mom...to have my hair styled and cut to shoulder length. Well she messed up and to correct her mistakes...I ended up with a boy cut!!! Of all people to make such a skrew up on!! I was in my 40's before I trusted someone again to touch my hair. I have a friend who is an awesome hairdresser. I watched what she did to others for a long long time before I gave in and said ok...grab your sissors. It may be just hair and it will grow back but in the meantime you have to live with not wanting to be seen in public because of their mistakes. I say ...do your homework if it really matters to you the outcome. My friend is not always available. So before I let anyone touch my hair, I ask people whose hair I think looks well cut....who did it? I don't care about which salon it is ....I want to know Who the hairdresser is.

Hi!! Thanks for sharing such a big response and your bad experiences. You're right we must be well informed about what type of hair cut we need at start and give necessary instructions to the barber regarding it.Many a times they still commit mistakes lol.

oh yes aadi, it was just recently i think two weeks before, i was to the salon, he cropped it so short near the ears and i was like what the crap, i was really annoyed but i was fortunate i had a doubt and so i could stop him from further damage and so to even out things i now have quite short hair, it's ok it suits me... but certainly once cut too short there can be hardly something that can be done and so it is so annoying!

Nope, but my wife has. Its several years ago, when her hairstylist was not around and she needed a hair cut. The substitute hairstylist happens to be a new one. I really don't know what happen but when she arrive home, all of us laugh at her new hairdo and she had to go back the following morning and have it fixed. lol, I would still be laughing at her when we talk about it.

Hi!! M also skeptical when it comes to having a haircut at the hands of a new person at the salon.I always prefer cutting my hair at the hands of the person who always does it for me.

i did not face any problem with my hair in a saloon.. but one day when i was cutting my hair in the saloon all the hairs of mine fell in my eyes due to the over speeding of the fan in there which made my eyes red and tears were falling from my eye... that was a very bad incident in a saloon for me.

Hi!! I always prefer closing my eyes whenever the barber is dealing with my side locks as many a times while cutting, the hairs get into your eyes.

Hi! Yeah once the damage is done you can't do much about it and there's no point in venting out your anger on the hairdresser as even he can't do much off it later.

Yes... I had a bad experience when i was at 14. My father used to send me to a barber nearby my home. One day, he started hair cut and when he is about to finish half, he received a phone call. He said that he wanted to go urgent and will be back in 10 minutes. Some of the waiters gone soon after him. I waited with half hair cut. But he returned only after 1 hour. I got very irritated and I never to his saloon then.

Oh my YES! Lol. My first experience at a salon was one I will never, ever forget. My aunt treated me to a salon visit when I was in nursing school. At the time, I had long hair, so long I could sit on it and then some. So I get to the salon and when she starts cutting I felt her grab my hair, then I felt the scissors snip at the nape of my neck. Of course there was a huge chunk missing now and I had to go with a haircut that left me with hair up to my earlobes. Pretty dramatic for me when I only asked for a trim to even it up!! Talk about being in shock, man, was I ever upset, and I absolutely hated it. I had long hair for so many years and never planned on having a short cap of hair. That has to be the worst experience I ever had at a salon, and I learned how to cut and trim my own hair after that and haven't been to a salon but 2 times since. (And that was 20 years + ago.) Guess I've been a 'salon-a-phobe' since then hahaha.

Hi!! Good to hear that you are your own stylist he he.The same thing has happened with my friend as well and he doesn't even come out of his house now as we all start teasing him as he looks bald. There is nothing bad in being bald but my friend looks so funny with that haircut that he is still cursing the barber over it.

Yes, when I was in Elementary School, some blonde girl who sat next to me in Kindergarten, put bubble gum into my hair, and because my mother could not get it out of my hair, she had to take me to the salon. They took out the gum, and chopped off all of my hair. I had a boy's haircut in Kindergarten. For the record, when the blonde girl moved away, I cheered.

Very funny... Actually it's my sisters worst day. Her only mistake is wanting to copy the hairstyle in the magazine. Unfortunately when everything is over and one day passed after the haircut her hair was a bad mess. She was furious. I told her not to blame the stylist because her hair doesn't match the hair type of the girl in the magazine. Obviously her hair is uncontrollable.

Hi!! Many a times we want to look like the film stars but we tend to forget that their hair is done by professional stylists who take proper precautions while styling the hair.It was obvious for your sister to get a bad hair day for the next few days, hope she gets out of it soon.

I had a bad experience but it wasn't with the way my hair was cut. I called the salon to find out if they were open. It was Labor Day so all I wanted to know was if they were open so I could get my hair cut. The woman that answered the phone insisted I leave my name, so I did. When I got to the salon they were very busy. So busy people were not waiting. Anyway I told them I was there and sat down to wait my turn. They had called a couple of people who went back to get their hair cut. After that they called about 5 people who were not there. Then they called my name. I got up and the woman who called my name said, "I don't know why you are getting ahead of all these people who have been waiting." I told the woman I was in no hurry so I could wait. She said, "No! I'll cut your hair right now." Once I got seated she picked up a brush off the counter and threw it on the floor under the counter. Then she started ranting and raving about me getting ahead of all those people who were waiting. She also was throwing the comb and scissors around. She gave me a good haircut but listening to her basically chew me out for getting ahead of everyone else and throwing things around was enough. I used to go to that salon all the time, but after that I have never gone back. That happened something like 20 years ago.
