Do you reuse wet bath towels?

I heard some people hang up wet bath towels after they dry themselves, and they use them again later. Do you do that? How many uses do you get from a bath towel until you wash it?

If you're sensible you won't throw wet towels into a laundry basket for precisely that reason. In summer even one day will create a smell.

Well yeah...I mean after all you just washed so all you did was dry clean water off yourself...I use the same towel all week. It's not like taking a shower then putting on the same dirty clothes you wore before the shower.

me too... i can hang them afterwards to dry again since it's not that dirty when you use it just drying yourself after having a shower. may change & wash my towel weekly then or as soon as it gets a tingy smell though...

I agree as well - I use the same towels until I feel they need to be washed - why do more laundry than you need to?

Purpose will not serve if you reuse it. Or it may stink. Hence keep spares and used ones should go for wash.

You throw away bath towels? That must get pretty expensive buying new ones all the time, or do you just air dry?

I live in a country that is in drought - Australia, so I use about 2 towels a week. We use them hang them on the towel rack and they are dry when we need them again.

I'm in Australia too. To be constantly washing towels after only a single use would be downright wasteful with the severe drought conditions we're experiencing. As long as the towel is hung to air and dry between uses there shouldn't be a problem. In summer here a towel can be completely dry half an hour after it's hung up!! If you're showering twice a day, especially in winter, and you're worried, I'd simply use 2 towels and alternate them each time you shower. That would allow plenty of drying time. I wash them once a week and hang them to dry in the sun to keep them fresh and smelling nice.

No, I always use a clean one. I like a fresh, crisp towel and dont mind washing, since I wash laundry daily anyways.

I use the same towel atleast 3 times, I look at it that way that I am clean when I try my self off so why waste water to wash a towel after each use. Not that I do the Laundry.

haha, this is a great question! I actually did do this when i was single and dating. I mostly did it because I hate doing my own laundry, so i try to make my clothes (and towels) last as long as possible. I have to admit that some times the towels got really nasty. Now that I'm married, my wife washes the towels almost every day and we've got so many of them (thanks to the wedding guests) that I always use a new towel. I have to admit, I prefer fresh towels to reusing one.

When living with my parents my mom encouraged to use a new one each time. My wife reuses her towels and kinda got me doing that too. I would rather not, but I have gotten used to it now. I like a fresh towel and I think it's cleaner. But we don't like doing laundry so I reuse it until I feel it's dirty. I also remember which spot on the towel I used to try my butt for instance. I don't reuse that spot.
