Hi!!
There have been plenty of releases based on video games in the recent years like the Hitman as you mentioned above,Max Payne,Street Fighter, etc, etc.I haven't liked any of the movies based on the video games as they were very boring and had an uninteresting plot.Hitman was an ok movie for me but m a huge fan of its game franchise. The Hitman movie was about a bald man who is a silent contract killer and works for an agency. As for the Mario bros, you're right its the worst movie ever made on video games and Street Fighter legend of the Chun li comes close to it.I would recommend you to watch a new release called Gamer starring Gerrard Butler. Its not based on any gaming series but deals with the gaming world.I loved the movie and I hope you would enjoy it too.Have a good day!!

I actually liked the Lara Croft movies. They were good fun to watch. But I then checked out a couple of other movies like Doom which I really hated as there was no real story feel to it and just watching someone play a game is no real fun.
I would rather play the game than watch it as a movie.
Cheers!

I don't like them since they usually suck. Especially if they're made by Uwe Boll (BloodRayne, Alone In The Dark, Far Cry, Dungeon Siege...)
There are a couple of good ones tho- Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Final Fantasy Advent Children. Mortal Kombat is still my favorite

in many cases movies based on videogames are not as good as the games in itself i meant about characters and even tor or background...in reality the mario movie is really awful...and from some point of view even those one based on popular titles like tekken or street fighter...so in general i think movies must learn a bit from storyteller available for popular games..

The Hitman movie was poor compared to the original game. I am keeping my fingers crossed with the new Hitman release, which, incidentally coincides with the release of the new Hitman game in 2010
