I live in California where it is illegal to smoke in restaurants. I love it! I hate it when I go out of state and have deal with smokers inside restaurants and bars even. I saw a few comments from smokers saying how they don't like it and that they are trying to quit. Wouldn't it make it easier to quit if you weren't allowed to smoke certain places? And really it's not discrimation towards smokers to ban indoor smoking it's being considerate to non smokers to ban it. We're not saying you can't smoke just try not to smoke around people who don't like brathing in smoke.

That's a good point about perfume. But that would be a lot harder to regulate than smoking is. I worked at a restaurant in Fl before they banned smoking in restaurants and there were parts of the non smoking section that was just too close to the smoking section and no one really wanted to sit there. Except people who smoke but were with nonsmokers or just wanted to get sat sooner rather than later. Airports sometimes do that.. have a room for smokers and that's fine because the whole room is incased. I just try not to go anywhere near them. In a restaurant though that's harder to do because that's an extra cost of installing the glass, and proper ventilation; I would rather see the restaurant I work at buy a more efficient computer system so things run smoother and faster than have them invest in that. as a server I would not want to work in a smoking room because the smoke rooms that I've seen at the airport all seem have poor ventilation because you can see the smoke cloud in it.

I am glad most places banned smoking in restaurants and a few other public places. Smoking in an enclosed area is like peeing in a swimming pool. It gets around eventually.

You also have to think about the rights of the employees. Is it right for the non-smoking waitress to have to serve the smoking section of a restaurant. I read about a study that figured out how much second-hand smoke on average someone inhales when they are working around it. It is bad! Smokers have a right to smoke, but that server has the right to live a long life. Everyone has a right...so which right is more right???

smoking should be banned. period. it is harmful for one's health, and especially more so for those simply inhaling it. i wish smokers could be more considerate about this.

No it should not as a Smoker has rights aswell and there should be seperate places for Smokers, there should be a smoking and none Smoking Area. The Smokers are being discriminated to much lately I respect Non Smokers bbelieve me I do but it is getting bad how the smokers are being treated. I am trying to stop because of my Health it is not easy but when I do I will not discriminate the smokers

i love the fact that smoking is banned in indoor areas here. its great. especially in the resturants. it was rediculous when they had the 'smoking' 'no smoking' zones...it was like 2 feet away from each other. someone tell the smoke its' supposed to stay on their side of the line! it was just dumb. now you can enjoy a meal in peace.

yes, i think it should be banned in restaurants and all public places where nonsmokers go. and im proud to say that i am now a nonsmoker as of 6-6-06.. wooo hooo.. but second hand smoke bothered me when i was a smoker so im glad they took it out of public places... buttttt.... i also think people should have the right to have a smokers restaurant or what ever.. smokers should have a place to go and enjoy their stay and not have to rush out because they want a smoke.

I dont think it is unreasonable to keep smoking outside. This is coming from a recovering smoker, i now have a child and 1 on the way and there is virtually no way 99% off all rest. can regulate all the smoke. It would cost too much for that too happen. I do believe that going into a bar abd expecting no smoke is a bit insane. Good luck to those trying to quit. Cold Turkey is the only way to go.

I think they should ban all indoor smoking :) if they want to have a smoke then they can go outside. They have banned smoking in pubs in NZ now, and it's so much better when you go out, dont get a sore throat and don't come home reeking of smoke!

I am a smoker. But I hate when I'm eatting and I smell someone smoke. I do think it should be ban from restaurants. But then you also have freedom. And little by little we are getting our freedom taken from us.
